"sonder - the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own"

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I finally told @kenliu.author that reading "the paper menagerie and other stories" stopped my suicidal thoughts and thanked him because if not for all of the joy and hope present in his stories, I wouldn't still be here 🥹❤️

I then asked him how is it that he could still be so optimistic and hopeful about humanity even when everything is going to shits. He answered that looking to people who wanted to make the world a better place helped, and there are still so many beautiful stories of innovation out there because people do care about each other. art is still beautiful and relevant because that's who we are as humans.

"I have hope because we humans are like that; we're not just humans built for survival, we are creatures who are built to say, after we satisfy our materials needs, want to sit down and just talk, and share stories, and make up stuff and laugh. That's what we do. None of that contributes to the GDP in any way, shape or form. But those are the moments worth living for."

✨ 26 books I want to read in 2026 📚✨

reading books with intent instead of just thinking "oh I want to read this book one day" but never really doing so

(though... watch me not read any of the books by the end of next year 😮‍💨)

what books are you planning to read next year? let me know in the comments below!

my bookhaul from @sgwritersfest!! I really enjoyed all the events I've been to and all the conversations with book friends! thank you @rilarilaroll @yeahitsxueting @we.read.together65 for the company during and between events ❤️

this year, I also started taking notes and I've found that the habit has enriched my experience because I don't zone out as often as I used to and I get to look back at the notes and recall the things I've learnt from all these amazing speakers and moderators

stumbled into a very interesting exhibition at pmq! it's a exhibition introducing visually impaired tour guides holding walking tours across various neighbourhoods that are rich in culture and history in hong kong. there are tactile exhibits with vivid descriptions and stories by the tour guides.

walking tours by the visually impaired tour guides are held every two months, if anyone is interested in joining the tours, do visit @kaifongtour for more information. (hoping that I'll be able to join one the next time I come to hk!) by @sonderture

36th 🪐 no candles on my cake but I'm blowing them out, wishing for more days like this, when I'm perfectly happy in a city of one.
