Whew where to even begin. The 3 days we spent at @sowerssummit in NYC were something only God could’ve orchestrated. I honestly waited for the last minute to book this, even though it was on my ♥️ for a while, and somehow it went down (mostly)smoothly. Being there was a dream! It was kinda hilarious - our flights to come back to Houston were canceled while we flew there and I joked we were stuck there for good (one day)…we fixed it within the hour of arriving and went about life. I had 0 clue what the conference would be like, but God blew my mind. NYC was expectedly the city of my dreams - and now I was in a room full of women there to seek Jesus. The splendor of God was shown in a gorgeous tapestry of women from many places, in different places in life all there in unity. Wow. HARD topics that we need to address as a church body were talked about, in grace, love, and truth. We worshipped in Spanish, English, and Korean! Thankful for this trip, for what God did, and the people that we got to befriend and spend time with. Looking forward to the future with such hope. He is still good & true ♥️🙌🏽 by @sonia.fitz

Things I am working to let go of this Fall:

1) Expectations of others’ behavior: I have caught myself expecting certain people in my life to behave differently than they have in the past. Or, I get surprised when they act the same as they always have. It has taken me years to realize that humans don’t change overnight. It takes intentionally, and time.

2) Arrogance, especially during this election season. Ring a bell? I would love to not think myself better than others due to our political disagreements. This one is hard to admit, but if I search my heart, I’ve done so in the past. It’s not good, so help me Lord. It’s so sneaky and pervasive in our culture, even within the Christian context- sadly.

3) Unnecessary busyness. I am working to simplify my life in physical and spiritual ways. With baby #3 on the way very soon, I have plenty to do- but nothing is more important that my peace and well-being. I am almost in my last trimester of pregnancy, so I choose to be more selective on what gets added to my schedule, and this time, I truly don’t have a choice! I am scrounging for margin right now, and it’s just how it is, but I can be purposeful with the small time I do have.….read the rest in substack. Link in bio! by @sonia.fitz

Love this quote! I recently finished her book, Big Magic, and it this part was life altering. Perfectionism can severely interfere with our life’s work and dreams - some of us need to hear that waiting until the perfect time, or circumstances is not getting us anywhere! I’ve done this for so long! So, I quit! As I approach having a 3rd baby, I can’t fathom keeping up with that mentality! I write about it more on this post! I’ve recently thought again about finding God in the mundane. The time that a stranger at a gas station showed me a kindness I never forgot - and when a homeless man told that Jesus loved me too. The times when I’m checked out and feel disconnected, but then God reminds me he’s even there, maybe more so. The time in my backyard when I was at the end of looking for a church and laid on the grass, as the sun rays showed me his glory. The moments that you have no idea what to say to your kid as they meltdown, and you just have to be quiet and embrace them. The friends that will meet you where you are. He is there. I can’t feel forgotten by him anymore, he has permanently embedded these “mundane” moments in my heart. These moments keep me much higher than just afloat when I need to remember what he has done and who I am to him. ❤️ by @sonia.fitz

For those grieving instead of celebrating today - or both. Father’s Day can be so hard on some. I woke up with this on my heart and wanted to share words of hope. Jesus thank you for not forsaking me. While earthly fathers fail us or leave us, you are incapable to do so. Thank you for not allowing me to lament alone, for your Spirit is the great comfort of my soul. I know you not only collect my tears and know me, but you also cry WITH me. You’re all-powerful, yet you were pierced to know ME. Through the cross and resurrection, I can rest knowing I’ll never be without your kindness and compassion. Help the fatherless and broken. Help me when it’s difficult to remember. Hold me when I feel I cannot walk. Bring forth springs in desert places. I love you and thank you Lord. Amen
