2022 was a year of transformation, marked by constant hospital visits, after Covid. However, this particular week in June stands out. (Romans 8:28) "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

It was a time of surrender. God, in His love, will sometimes get our attention in unexpected ways (Deuteronomy 8:2). "He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord." This season became a pause button, forcing me to depend solely on Him.

We must be sensitive to the seasons and patterns in our lives (Proverbs 4:23). "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." For me, complete surrender was key. God desired my heart, not just my circumstances.

Today, I share this story in the hope it helps someone recognize God's call before reaching a breaking point. (Isaiah 30:15) "For thus says the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.”

Two years later, I still find myself praying for the family she left behind that fateful morning in search of her daily bread and never returned. I continue to hope that they have been able to heal from the shock and their faith in God remains strong. I pray whenever they remember her, they can smile, trusting that she is resting in peace.
