Congratulations to all involved in the Time 5 compilation on @slimzosrecordings , which has been nominated for the Best of British compilation by @djmagofficial .

Big ups to @dust_rva whose track Sheesh is featured on the compilation which was mixed and mastered at Sonic Arts.

‘Working with Harminder was a real pleasure, not only was he very friendly, yet professional, he was able to provide clear feedback on what he needed from me as an artist to make sure the mix and master came out as clean and clear as possible. He provided nothing but quality in the masters, and honestly, my own music hadn’t made me feel the way it did after he worked his magic. Chris aka Dust is a multi genre artist drawing on influences from drum’n’bass, dubstep and footwork to carve out his own unique sound.

Happy to share a mix and mastering project I worked on earlier this month by the folk/hip hop act, @jargon_jams with a feature from Ruzi.

Due to COVID, professional recording facilities were inaccessible so all of the instrumentation and vocals were recorded at home and the drum track was a single lofi sample, which lacked definition and clarity.

The track had all the vibe but needed to punch and be given a polish to bring it to life, which is where I stepped in.

By layering the drums with a few key hits and applying the right processing, I was able to take a home recording and turn it into a track that both artists were very happy to share with the world and that has received support from @rudi_reel on @deliteradio .

GOTTA BE: a collaboration between two very talented artists stretching over two continents. Mumbai’s @sickflipofficial brings the infectious rhythm with Manchester’s @mcrchunky giving the track a voice, with his tight flow that gets your head nodding and body moving.

When the vocals came in to be mixed, there was a lot of noise and masking by the different layers. We went in, cleaned them up and then created the separation needed to make sure everything had its space in the mix. As it’s a dance track, it was important that the vocals stood out and moved with the beat.

We also mastered the track and one of the first moves made was to level the bass to get those speakers moving. Surgical eqing, light compression and few magic tools helped shape and level the whole track, ready to share with the world!

With support from Mary Anne Hobbs on 6 music, this one is primed to kick down some doors.

A match made in hell 👹

Currently working on a heavy metal mix. Anyone who knows will agree that mixing in this genre requires density, raucous energy and standout tones that cut through the mix. The @uaudio Distressor accompanied with @soundtoys Decapitator is a great combination to getting the drums to that special place where the track comes alive! 🧟‍♂️🎸🤘
