Just watched Safed Sagar — and I cannot recommend it enough. 🇮🇳

The Kargil War is not just a chapter in history for me. It is a memory.

I was in school when the war happened. Being from The Army Public School, many of my classmates had fathers serving on the front lines. We saw the fear, anxiety and uncertainty their families lived with every single day. Communication was limited. There were no constant updates, no way of knowing what was happening at the front. Every morning, we came to school hoping and praying that the war would end soon and that everyone would return home safely.
Many of our former students made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. I still remember their parents coming to our morning assembly and speaking about their sons. We were children, but we understood enough to know that these were moments we would never forget.

Our school also has a ‘Hall of Fame’ wall, where the photographs and stories of these brave martyrs are displayed.

There is something incredibly powerful about standing in front of that wall — seeing the faces, reading their stories and realising that these were once young boys who walked the same corridors, sat in the same classrooms and dreamed their own dreams, but ultimately chose to give everything for the country.

And one particular memory has stayed with me all these years.
I remember the father of one of our fallen soldiers saying:
“I have no regret that I lost my son. My only regret is that I wish I had more sons who could have served the country.”

That is what our Armed Forces are made of.
The least we can do is remember them. Respect them. Honour their families. And, most importantly, live our lives in a way that makes us worthy of the country they fought and died for.

To the entire team behind Safed Sagar — job incredibly well done. You have brought those stories, those sacrifices and that courage back to life.

Salute to every soldier who fought.
Salute to every family that waited.
Salute to every parent who gave their child to the nation.

While growing up in Delhi, we all came from humble backgrounds. We had plenty of dreams, but very little clarity about what the future would look like.

Among all of us, there was one person who knew exactly what he wanted, even at the age of 12. He would say, “Bhai, mujhe ek bada ghar chahiye — driveway ho, peeche garden ho aur swimming pool bhi ho.” And the rest of us would laugh and say, “Wah bhai, tu aur tere Mungeri Lal ke sapne!”

Fast forward 28 years, and here I am in Boston, standing in front of a stunning home with a beautiful driveway, a huge backyard garden, and a swimming pool — exactly the dream he spoke about as a kid.

I am incredibly proud of you, my brother, @roshanramesh28 , and of you too, @jyothi.krishnan29 . What you’ve built is truly inspiring.

As @zakirkhan_208 once said, “Kabhi kabhi badi baat bol deni chahiye. Upar wala dekh raha hota hai.” Maybe that’s exactly what “Tathastu” means — when you dare to dream big, the universe quietly starts working in your favor.

I started writing this thinking words would never be enough to tell you how much I love you and what you truly mean to me… but then I realized that by the age of 40, you’ll finally have enough wisdom to understand it yourself 😜

You make our lives so much more beautiful just by being in them — with your love, your care, your warmth, and the way you hold everyone together without even trying. Thank you for loving us the way you do, for always being there, and most importantly… for tolerating me all these years 😂 I promise, I’ll only get better from here.

Honestly, life feels lighter, happier, and more complete because of you. We are beyond proud of the person you are and everything you’ve achieved.
