This girl who I now call my sister @_adriananegron took me under her wing when I did my first professional theatre job ever. She taught me how to pin curl my hair and prep my body/mind for a two show day, but it soon became evident- through sharing a dressing room together, late nights of endless conversation, and holding each other through life (on and off stage) - we’d be friends forever.
We all knew the day would come when Dri would make her Broadway debut because she is so unbelievably kind, determined, and the truest triple threat I’ve met- but it felt like magic to find out she’d be gracing that Broadway stage right next to me 🥹
I had to hold back tears of astonishment when she sang to me “stand on your own two feet” during Palace Walls because I can’t tell you how many times she has uttered a version of that to me in real life.
I love you so much Dri. Thank you for being my rock. Being your best friend is the gift of a lifetime and apparently we’re just gonna keep playing best friends on stage too (and always with a poof!) 🩵 by @sonyabalsara

Make way for Broadway’s newest Green Captain! 👋

Join us in welcoming @sonyabalsara, who is joining @ikaika.ehrlich and @laurenmboyd as a co-Green Captain at @aladdin! ✨

“Our planet is facing an unprecedented climate crisis and our choices can make a difference. I spend my free time volunteering in NYC green spaces as well as cultivating my own garden in Brooklyn, so it only feels right to bring climate activism to Broadway. I am so excited to think more deeply about the ways we consume and take action to make a lasting impact.”– @sonyabalsara

Welcome to the Green Captain community, Sonya! 💚
