Chicago did something for me. Taught me that there is strength, power in vulnerability. It urged me to be authentic, honor my emotions, acknowledge my insecurities, reflect on my desires.

The harvest moon activated these truths. The shadow that I had been avoiding, presented itself and offered two paths: one of comfort and one of growth.

Sitting in a space of uncertainty, is uncomfortable but necessary for elevation. For your faith must be stronger than your doubt, your anxiety and requires the release of control. Imagine being impacted by another layoff at the top of the year. A year filled with plans to balance career, love, community, health, etc. just to be thrown into the fire and a feeling of instability.

January felt like a slap in the face, my work, my impact, gone. My role, made irrelevant, unnecessary and me back on the job market, yet again. Money was not the challenge; it was me being reminded that inclusion, equity, access and diversity were no longer priorities. I retreated in St. Kitts to mourn, to grieve the plans that were now distant. In March, I secured a contract to begin in April and in May, I began another contract. Neither role aligned with my long term goals but inconsistent income, is not something I am ever willing to accept. So I reverted to temporary roles, my heart absent, my smile, aloof and my thoughts ventured elsewhere.

One contracts abrupt ending, led to a new beginning and a new role, parallel with my passions. So, I celebrate. The goal was met: to obtain a new role before my 2+ week trip to Mexico. Now, I rejoice in checking off another goal. 💕 #NewJob #DEIProfessional #DiversityProgramManager #RemoteLife #Blessed by @sooosweetkitty_

“Maybe we go to St Kitts” 🇰🇳

God has a funny way of removing, forcing recalibration, resetting before one can receive. As there is no growth in comfort, so we must experience multiple rebirths, to achieve our manifestations. The unease stems from sitting, waiting while in the midst, the journey and it is essential to release that control, lean into your faith. So, I shall obey. 💕 taken in St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino by @sooosweetkitty_
