“Why does Banaras feel like a place you don’t simply visit, but somehow carry back with you?”

Maybe it’s because everything exists together here the chaos of the lanes, the stillness of the Ganga, the temple bells, the laughter, and the silence of the ghats.

I kept thinking about Masaan while being here. Stories of love, loss, grief and letting go that I had once watched through a screen suddenly felt real. Standing at Manikarnika, with life and death existing so closely together, left me with a strange sense of peace, acceptance and gratitude.

The city keeps moving people praying, laughing, eating and wandering, while the Ganga quietly carries everything forward. And somewhere between all of it, Banaras made me slow down and feel.

Maybe that’s what I’ll carry back not just memories, but a little more acceptance of life and its fleeting moments.
