POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
i have been living on a sailboat this month, rocking gently in the harbor while i sleep, dreaming with the spirit of this land that is welcoming me home.

the scenic route has all but become my personality on this long journey home. yes after yes, after yes. airplane after airplane. packing, unpacking, packing, unpacking. finding a home base, but it never felt quite like home.

patience, trust, timing :: listening. always listening :: for the call, for the right time, for the feeling.

& then, there are moments of arrival. a time for receiving. for relief. and for pause.

like when you meet a person that you just know know will become a very important person in your life. beginnings that feel rememberings. like when you arrive at the place that you can and will call home.

this equinox :: a time of finding balance, nourishing, of celebrating the close of summer, and of preparing for the gentle descent with the season into the yin side of the year coin.

this equinox, I am celebrating and acknowledging the importance of celebration. as a way to anchor and acknowledge, to reflect and praise with gratitude the shape of our lives. the highs and lows. the triumphs and failures. and all the special souls who walk with us, guide us, and laugh with us on the way home.

living in this boat has brought up many memories of a time years ago when I set out to live in a van, as a life raft really, from one terrible chapter of my life into a beautiful era of growth and becoming.

it reminds me of my teenage years of wilderness adventures, sailing, backpacking, cycling. the years that prepared me in many ways for the mythic terrain of life and it’s wilderness, inner and outer.

in this new beginning, that feels old and new and wild and rooted, I am filled with gratitude, inspiration and the giddy spark of a budding romance… with my own deeper roots, with mountainous ecologies, and with a mossier heart of this land’s dreams and making. by @sophburns

if you’re not open to trust the timing of your visions, you may be trying to move the hands of the mystery…

have you courted the dance of time? and relaxed into those wide, impossible arms?

to trust is to :: meet what comes, as it comes, and open to the creative mind and soul of the world ::

your life has a plan for you, too.

breath, by breath, by breath. slow your life down, the hurry may have already caught you…

you are needed :: right where you are.

root that wild heart of yours in the real, beyond the rush.

ask your feet where you are. find above, find below.

your visions do not come from you, do they?

rather, they move through you, into you :: lightening and bark, clay on damp air.

do trust the timeless field from which they come, and the same to which they go.

be thankful :: you are the one who can carry just as much as you can see. by @sophburns

the seed may find you, but the love you really want is yours for the making… taken in Crete, Greece by @sophburns

“I don’t know about hope, but I do know about love. I think we are in this perilous moment because we have not loved the Earth enough, and it is love that will lead us to safety. I’m dreaming of a time when we are propelled not by fear of what is coming towards us, fearsome as it is, but by love for a beautiful vision of a world whole and healed… Let us ask each other, what do you love too much to lose?”

:: TENDER WATERS ::

my body can’t hold all that i feel, alone.
this i know — none of ours can.
let’s gather, and touch, and feel, and grieve, and flow…

this is a guided self-touch practice and communal grief ritual devoted to tending the waters of our bodies &honoring the immensity of both grief and love that we hold within them.

our breasts carry stories, memories, and emotions... they have long been symbols of nourishing others :: this space is an invitation to enter a deeper reciprocal relationship with them as a source of nourishment for our own lives. as we learn and practice the intimacy of tending to our own breasts with care, we deepen our sensitivity, vitality, and relationship with our own hearts.

over these 2 hours together we’ll share simple daily practices for tending our breasts and supporting the health of our lymphatic rivers through guided self-touch and gentle movement. practices every woman can easily bring into her every day life for holistic wellbeing and preventative care. from cellular regeneration to self-love. we’ll support one of the body’s most important systems of circulation and immunity :: the lymph :: the inner waterways that nourish, protect, and help us carry and show up for the fullness of life…

we’ll close by unfurling into a communal ritual that welcomes and honors our tears, our tenderness, and our achingly immense love for this precious life.

this Friday, August 7th
9:30am PT // 10:30am MT // 12:30pm ET // 6:30pm CEST

deep in your body :: gathering together online.

This morning, two warplanes flew overhead. In their gut-wrenching echo, all the dogs in the village howled and wailed together. All things with wings were, for a moment, floating in an abyss of silence.

Releasing my own held breath, I relaxed onto the cushion in the shade of a flowering jasmine vine. The waters of life wept through the wide spreading petals in my heart and, for a time, I too became tender vessel and spilling nectar.

And then the boiling in me began.
Beneath my skin spread the ancient flames that remember to never accept this world carved by violence as inevitable.

I have never quite known what to do with this spitting fire when it roils through my flesh. It is older than my opinions. Older than my politics. It burns in me when my love rides harder than my sanity.

So I boiled myself off into a steam and was carried by the wind down the mountain to the sea.

::

After some time, I found my way to my body again, now glowing gold with sunlight under the humming of honeybees.

There, I discovered the strangest question sticking to my mind.

~ am I allowed to be well? ~

What a bewildering thought to think and thing to have learned.

Must beauty be an apology for brutality? Must joy justify itself before grief? Is delighting in this living world somehow betraying those who are suffering?

The very premise of these questions is the perversion.

This logic belongs to a way of seeing the world that has become so estranged from life that it mistakes suffering for virtue and aliveness for something that must be earned.

Who is worthy of being well in such tragic times?

I cannot live from that inheritance. I refuse such numb-hearted thinking.

I must go beyond it, into a deeper knowing. Jasmine fills my lungs, the dry leaves of the olive tree rustle and the dove casts her shadow between my eyes and the sun.

I am here to remember.

My well-being is not a withdrawal from the world, but a deeper devotion to it.

the spaces i create for women are unlike anything most people have ever experienced.

they’re laboratories, playgrounds, temples, wildernesses and spaces where we remember what it means to be women, to be embodied — and who we become when we come together.

every woman deserves a sanctuary devoted to the erotic innocence of her wild and beautiful body. a place where she finds the life she was told wasn’t possible…

opening ceremony for Inner Lover is this sunday, July 12th!

enroll now and enjoy the journey home…

time is visible here on Crete.

it has been circling me, taunting me. it’s made a fool of me. i let the flow run wild and time puddled all over the place. i’ve been slipping in, falling from one cycle to the next. bobbing and weaving. then, the moon scooped up my mind and cradled it in her crescent, like an oyster mothers a pearl. i too found a mother in the iridescent light.

all knots undone — if you saw me then, just a couple moons ago — i had slipped for a brief moment, beyond time’s net. somehow inside out, and i liked it.

i am waking from a trance of here-less-ness and there-less-ness, yet always within reach of myself. i have been shaken loose, smooth speckled rocks falling from my pockets as my feet grazed the sky. spinning, spooling into her thread, time had me in her dancing hands.

i’d been pleading with her for a breath. to be met. to be found. to be touched.

please, take me to the center so i can rest.

she had me lost in the light.

until now.

now, time is cloaked in a body i can see. a presence that hums through the land. a She, i feel, we know. the ancient serpent body that is the island herself. Creta. Kriti. her body has stilled me. i am a dove beneath her foot.

i am listening.
i am resting in the shadows of your caves. i am singing in the dappled light of your groves. i am soaring in the unforgettable blue of your sea. i am, too, findable.

there is nowhere here to turn where time is hidden.

i am remembering your ways. living inside of time, this shedding body. bleeding with a beating heart. i do as you do.

here, standing between ancient bodies and their great mothers, i watch time whip loose from its coil, spiral roots into the rocky soil, grow into the great olive mothers, weave lightning into the hives of bees, and shimmer gold and silver — and red — across the sea.

i belong to you.

there is no one i trust more to speak about Inner Lover than the women who have lived it.

their words mean the world to me, i wonder if they might inspire you too…

at the end of last summer i asked them what they would say to a woman who is considering joining us this summer. i didn’t edit their answers, i simply gathered them for you to see. they are speaking directly to you…

and of the 19 women i polled, every single one said she would recommend it to a friend.

we can’t wait to welcome you inside…

early-bird ends tonight!!
opening ceremony is on July 12th!

(ps :: i have also added a special 6-month payment plan for anyone who feels it would make saying yesss that much easier and sweeter for you. just dm me to ask for that special link 🫶🏼) by @sophburns

innocence has been infantilized; eros has been pornographied.

and you? what has it felt like in your body to be caught in between this fracture?

i sense that the ache beneath the ache that stirs in all of us is for a more erotic life. or rather, a life in which we have not been shamed out of our erotic innocence.

a life in which we can live from our own essence, tasting our own nectar, allowing it to become both a portal into the present moment and a doorway into one another. a life that honors our grief, our irrationality, our tender sensibilities, our true need for one another, and all our deeply human complexities. how wildly and freely we truly yearn to love and be loved, for instance.

the access point of eros, through its pornographication in the collective imagination, has been reduced exclusively to sexuality (and, upsettingly, to violence — but more on that another time).

and so when our bodies ache for eros, sexuality is often the only language we’ve been given. and yes, we do long for more in our sexual lives :: more intimacy, more attunement, more soul, more magic, more reciprocity, more freedom, more shamelessness, more expression, more pleasure :: more of yourself :: more of another.

but beneath it all — what’s really moving us?

how could it be anything butour longing to belong more deeply to life itself.

to remember with our whole bodies that we are not alone here. that we are findable :: and capable of being found. by another. by beauty. by what is real.

in other words, what we long for is to no longer be standing outside of ourselves :: observing, managing, waiting, and getting through our days. we want to actually arrive deeply inside our bodies :: feeling, listening, flowing. in life and also in our sexuality, where much of this perversion has been seeded.
