POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

All 8 episodes of Chasing Waves drop tomorrow, Jan 11 on Disney+! The series follows a group of talented Japanese surfers who are truly making their mark on global surf culture. We followed stars from the competitive surf world, as well as soul surfers traveling throughout Japan in search of the next great ride.

Some of my favorite stories from the series grappled with the pressures of representing your country on the world stage, the dangers of big wave surfing, and the resurgence of a small surfing community after the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear meltdown in Fukushima. Throughout the series, we explored our athletes’ multicultural identities, showing what it meant to them to grow up in Hawaii, Australia and California while embracing their Japanese roots.

I’m so proud to have earned my first Co-Executive Producer and Co-Director credit on this beautiful and sensitive series. Endless thanks to all the talented athletes who shared their stories with us, our dedicated crew members around the world, and to the fabulous team at @boardwalkpictures @station10media! I can’t wait for the world to see what we created 🌊💙

📣 New work alert! 📣 “The Hillside Strangler” is now out on Amazon’s MGM+. This four-part true crime series digs into a series of murders of young women across Los Angeles and led to the longest criminal trial in US history. The archival footage on this project is pretty insane – gorgeous old film and newsreels from the late 70s of my own neighborhood in East LA. And I could not be more proud of @oliveruberti , who crushed it on his first series doing title design and motion GFX.

It was such a pleasure to get to know director @peter_lo_g on this one. Thank you for taking a chance on a new Co-EP, and showing me what great leadership looks like – your humor and compassion inspired us all to do our best work.

We were lucky to have an incredible team who all brought such care and creativity to get this one across the finish line in – record time. @bryandonnell_dp, @khacala, Patty Bobek, @scoresforghosts, @singing_mama9, Vincent Oresman, @soupcommie, Alessandro Soares, Lance Larson, Josh Herring, @joshgloer, @meguminishikura, Eric Courtney, Stephanie Aguilar, Kerry Klimpel, Stephen Thies, sterling frymer, Audrey Wood, Edwin Zuniga (my hero), Edward Tabacchi, Jackson Greenberg. THANK YOU. The schedule was nuts and the material was emotionally challenging, but you all pushed through and proved making TV with the right people can also be fun. I hope we get to do it again soon. CONGRATS! by @sophiakruz

🚨True-crime fans: THE FOX HOLLOW MURDERS premieres next week on Hulu! This is one of the more bizarre and surprising stories I've worked on in the past few years. We combed through extensive police archives and secured interviews with witnesses who have never told their stories on-camera before, revealing shocking new information about a series of unsolved homicides in Indiana. Our original reporting has raised new questions about this 30-year-old case. Once you watch, I'd love to hear your theories!

Thank you to the folks at @hulu, @abcnewsstudios and @all3america for the opportunity to Co-Executive Produce this series. Our executives, Nick Gilhool, Jen Casey, Alex Walton, Victoria Thompson and David Sloan trusted our team to take creative risks and make the best version of this series, and for that I am truly grateful.

A heartfelt thank you as well to all the family members of the victims, and the folks from the Hamilton County Coroner's office, who so graciously made time for our team and were willing to share their stories.

We really had an all-star team on this one. Director @_alexjablonski brought his fierce creative vision and pushed us all to make the best version of this wild tale. Our fantastic DP @videopate and the camera team created hauntingly beautiful images, and our talented composer @tylerstrickland wrote an eerie and evocative score. It was such a pleasure to work with a number of new folks on our post team, including our very talented editors @mimimw @scoresforghosts @denamermelstein @zuckerdp and story producers Josh Herring and @sejalbovenizer. I was also lucky enough to get to work with a few old friends, including the fabulous editor @adlscypress and brilliant story producers @meguminishikura and @joshgloer. Thank you to all the PAs, security, sound, the field and archival producing team, and the folks in finishing and post who played a part in making this series. by @sophiakruz

Our fourth episode features one of my favorite cities: CHICAGO! In the season finale of #ExpressWayPBS, we explored the connection between art and activism in the Windy City. Huge thank you and congratulations to our featured artists, including the talented musicians of the band Bassel & the Supernaturals, who are shedding light on the plight of Syrian refugees; the fabulous dancers of Red Clay Dance; and the inspiring artists behind Andre Theatre Collective, who are giving voice to incarcerated playwrights.

Thank you to our team, including this episode's very talented editor @adlscypress and story producer @bruns.blake!

And thank you as well to everyone who watched season 1!! I hope you've all loved watching as much as we loved making it ❤️

Our APPALACHIA episode of "The Express Way with Dulé Hill" explores the power of art and music to provide solace and healing in our darkest hours. I adore this episode and remain in awe of the talented artists featured:

Through her powerful vocals and soulful songwriting, @amythystkiah builds on the rich legacy of black folk and country musicians in Appalachia. Master luthier Doug Naselroad is helping recovering opioid addicts heal by teaching them to build fiddles, dulcimers, guitars and mandolins at @troublesomecreekguitars. And @joe.troop.music, the creator of "Latingrass" (a fusion of Appalachian bluegrass and Latin music) has partnered with Venezuelan refugee @larrybellorinoficial in the incredible duo @larryandjoe to show music has no borders.

Tune in tomorrow on PBS tomorrow (Tues 4/30) at 9/8c!

Congratulations to our fantastic editor @carlcramer and talented story producer @joshgloer for their beautiful work on this episode, and a big thank you to the rest of the team in the field and post! by @sophiakruz

Our CALIFORNIA episode of "The Express Way with Dulé Hill" premieres on PBS tomorrow (Tues 4/22) at 9/8c!

Featuring the immensely talented deaf dancer @shaheem, the fabulous and fun burlesque senior troupe @grantavenue_follies, and the gifted musicians of the world's first LGBTQ+ mariachi @mariachiarcoiris, our series premiere is all about the joy - and power - that comes with finding your voice as an artist.

Congratulations to our fabulous editor @soupcommie and talented lead story producer @smithglover who helped us find the editorial voice + style for the series!

Kudos to producers Brian Rivera and Nicki Carrico who followed these artists from the cabarets of San Francisco to the stage at Lincoln Center.

A huge thank you to our lead assistant editor @raineyprime who kept us sane in post and somehow managed to find time to cut this trailer and a few fantastic sequences in this episode!

Thank you as well to our wonderful archival producer @rachelfleischer who tracked down stunning footage to illustrate everything from the history of Chinese nightlife to "machismo" in Mariachi.

And to our tireless team in the field - this was the first episode we shot and the humor, energy and passion you brought to the first leg of this marathon made for such a fun and beautiful series premiere. Thank you all! @go4sid @kamalsound @joebressler @larkindonleydp @mariocontini @tikioffline @totheppl by @sophiakruz
