Een ouder verliezen is altijd mijn grootste angst geweest. Ookal weet je dat het onvermijdelijk is, je gaat er vanuit en hoopt dat dit pas op veel latere leeftijd gebeurt. Nu is mijn grootste angst werkelijkheid geworden. Iets minder dan een jaar geleden hoorde we dat je ziek was en dat het niet meer goed zou komen. Toch hoopten we dat je nog lang bij ons zou zijn.

Mijn hart is gebroken, maar jij hebt geen pijn meer.

Ik ben boos op de ziekte, verdrietig dat je er niet meer bent, blij dat je er was en trots dat je voor altijd mijn papa bent.

Life while grieving my dad. It comes with some ups and a lot of downs. Getting back to work, taking care of myself, doing fun and social things. Everything feels different. As if I’m wearing an invisible heavy dark blanket everywhere I go.

Yes, I can laugh. Yes, I look good. Yes, I’m enjoying myself. But there’s also a lot of guilt there. And don’t get me started on how tired I am ALL THE TIME.
