Loved the 90s conservative setting of this book. A thought-provoking exploration of oppression, power and social dynamics.

The story follows Patricia, a Southern housewife who has devoted her life to her family. Wanting to do something for herself for a change, she joins a women’s book club alongside the other wives in town. Then James, her new neighbour arrives, and Patricia begins to befriend him, only to later question his actions and reasons for moving to town.

This book is a brilliant mix of dark humour, wit and sarcasm.
It also challenges traditional expectations of women and questions the structures of marriage, exposing how easily women’s voices can be dismissed within their own relationships.

Heart the Lover
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a beautiful story on love, loss and connection. I was so captivated by the narrative and the writing style. I didn’t go in to this book with any expectations and I think that is the way to go because it will be more impactful and will surprise you. The characters are flawed and just so wonderful.
This book left me in tears.
