This the newest, most deliberate piece of my strategy. It’s one of the smaller allocations, but it represents the part of my portfolio that is genuinely insulated from everything my other assets are exposed to. And in FY27, that insulation feels valuable 🙇🏻‍♀️

This might be a controversial opinion but I don’t like getting a tax refund 😅

I’d rather have access to that money during the year, as long as I have enough set aside to pay my tax bill if one comes.

But I completely understand why people love getting a refund, and if receiving a lump sum helps you save money that you would’ve otherwise spent, then that’s a huge positive too 💗

I think the most important thing is understanding what a tax refund actually is!

The other day I shared that I got $1.5k+ in dividends and so many of you DM’d me ‘how do I get that?’ 💬💗

Here’s the thing, I’m actually a growth investor, not a dividend investor!

Those dividends are a nice little bonus, but they’re not the main reason I invest. My focus is building my portfolio through capital growth over the long term 📈

Dividend investing can be a great strategy especially if generating cash flow is a priority for you. But it’s important to understand the trade-off: investments that pay higher dividends can sometimes have lower capital growth compared to their growth-focused counterparts.

Neither strategy is better. It comes down to your goals:
📈 Are you focused on growing your wealth over decades?
💰 Do you want more income from your investments now?
🎯 What stage of life are you in?

Australia is getting its first ETF with an AI portfolio manager 🤖🔮📈

Starting 20 July, VanEck’s GOAT ETF (ASX: GOAT) will use a generative AI model to help select the global companies it invests in.
