June wrapped x

Edit:
After a long week at work missing out on the sunshine, I spent Saturday with my kid in the sun at the Lido. Drawing, “swimming”.
Sunday we ran errands, bought her new shoes, took her to the park, and then to another park that some friends she made in park#1 were going to. It was getting late as we left park#2 and she asked if I’d play with her when we got home…
My response was that all I do is work and look after her.

She didn’t know that I’d been telling myself all week that I would paint in the evenings after work. And when I didn’t do that, I told myself I’d paint on the weekend instead. Time is constantly slipping through my fingers. I’d mentally assigned the weekend’s remaining couple of hours to myself. She didn’t know that. It was unfair to expect her to. It’s kinda unfair to expect her to want to do anything but spend time with me. I’m her world as much as she is mine.
I try to shield her from how much pressure I’m under doing it all alone. But as she grows older I get realer.
It’s really hard to show up as your best self in different areas of life, particularly as a parent, when you’re in survival mode.
I’m not perfect. But I’m abundantly blessed and grateful. I don’t want to spend any less time with her. It’s the opposite.
I just wish I had more time somehow. Or that I could slow it down. Get more out of each day for me and for her.

💧Just spent an obscene amount of time trying to decide which order to post pic#1 and pic#2.

Lemme break down their pros & cons:
1: Feels more vibrant because the background is darker and the lighting was better, the background also has more interesting elements, but you could argue these are distracting. The main con is the painting is incomplete here. Buuuut maybe it’s a bit more raw because of that …

2: The painting is complete(ishhh, I think) here and a bit more refined. The empty background might create more focus on the painting though I guess.. and look a bit more profesh but yeah I’m sold on number 1. The lips do look so much better on number 2 tho. But if anyone cares enough to swipe they’ll see it anyway
