Still reflecting on an incredible few days at the National Arab American Bar Association’s inaugural National Conference in Chicago.

It was truly an honor to sit on the “Women Trailblazers in the Arab American Legal Community” panel alongside such an accomplished group of women — Dalal Hasan, President of the Palestinian American Bar Association, and Marvet Sweis Drnovsek — and to have the conversation moderated by NAABA President Sandra Frantzen.

Thank you to Dalal, Marvet, and Sandra for such a thoughtful and engaging conversation, and to NAABA for creating a national platform for conversations like this.

One of my favorite parts of the conference was also getting to reconnect with old friends from Michigan State University College of Law. It was so nice seeing familiar faces after all these years and realizing just how far we have all come since law school.

This past week, I had the honor of attending the National Arab American Bar Association’s inaugural national conference in Chicago. Serving on NAABA’s board and helping grow this organization since its inception has been such a privilege. Seeing years of collaboration come together in person made this gathering especially meaningful.

I was honored to introduce our keynote speaker, Fadwa Hammoud, whose leadership and accomplishments continue to inspire me, and to participate in the “Women Trailblazers in the Arab American Legal Community” panel alongside such accomplished women.

My heartfelt thanks to our President, Sandra Frantzen, and the events committee for the tremendous work that went into making this conference possible. Thank you to Rami Jabara and Ryan Suto for your dedication to getting NAABA off the ground and helping build the organization we are so proud of today. And a special thank you to Houeida Saad for your mentorship, encouragement, and guidance over the years.

One of the most special parts of the conference was finally meeting the handful of fellow board members I had yet to meet in person after years of working together. I am grateful for these friendships, proud of what we have built together, and excited for all that lies ahead for NAABA and our community. by @soujoudhamade

It was an absolute pleasure meeting Bernie Sanders this past week. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have meaningful conversations about the issues impacting our communities and the importance of protecting human dignity everywhere.

I look forward to continuing to work with his office, and to seeing our community continue building strong relationships that help ensure Arabs are respected, heard, and treated as human beings both within the United States and abroad. by @soujoudhamade

Watching you reach this moment and earn your PhD was honestly so emotional. You have worked so hard for this, through every challenge and every long day, and seeing it all come together like this made me so incredibly proud.

You deserve all of this and so much more. You deserve every opportunity, every success, and every beautiful thing life has in store for you. This is such a huge milestone, but I know it is only the beginning of everything you are going to accomplish.

Reflecting on our 4th Annual Khalta for NAABA Michigan this week, and I’m still taking in what an incredible success it was.

As past president and now chairwoman, it’s truly special to witness how far this organization has come. What started as a vision to bring our community together has grown into something that continues to elevate, connect, and strengthen the Arab American legal community year after year.

I am especially proud of our current president, @ren.hamdar whose leadership, dedication, and hard work were instrumental in making this year’s Khalta such a success. Her efforts, along with the commitment of our board and community, continue to move NAABA Michigan forward in meaningful ways.

We were also proud to honor Lisa Hamame, the newly installed President of the State Bar of Michigan. As the first Arab American to hold this position, her leadership represents a truly historic moment for our community and the legal profession in Michigan. Recognizing her at Khalta was especially meaningful, as it reflects the progress we’ve made and the impact Arab American attorneys continue to have across the state.

Grateful for everyone who showed up, supported, and continues to believe in what we’re building. The momentum only grows from here. by @soujoudhamade

An incredible night at the 2026 MENA Trade Summit.

We were honored to have Dr. Farouk Shami as our keynote speaker. As the founder of CHI and Biosilk, a pioneer with over 70 patents, and a proud Palestinian, his story is a powerful reminder of what vision, resilience, and innovation can build.

I also had the opportunity to take the stage alongside my friend Razan to present the MENA Author of the Year award to the incredibly talented Reta Taleb.

A special thank you to our Executive Director, Faye Nemer, for the significant role she played in bringing this event together and for the time and effort she dedicated behind the scenes. by @soujoudhamade
