Trying to be better today than I was yesterday

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

@Beyonce is far from the 1st black r&b/soul artist to attempt country! Bobby Womack took a stab at it in 1976! His album bw goes cw is a full traditional country album. The original title was to be called move aside Charlie pride. Give another nigger try. His label was against the title and the album. Lack of promotion meant it sold poorly and he left the label. I'll say for a country album it's quite nice #country #beyonce #beehive #soul #music #culuture by @soulfulinteraction

This guy right here was a game changer! Born in the Bahamas. He moved to the United States as a young adult. He broke through the racial barriers at a time when many blacks still lived under segregation and won an academy award! The first black to win an Oscar for lead and stayed that way for nearly 30 years. My heart is heavy right now. We loss an income today! R.I.P Sydney Poitier!!! by @soulfulinteraction

Today marks 30 years since Michael Jackson released the Dangerous album. This was an iconic album in its own right!!! I will tell you a quick story because this album is the very album the caused my ultimate love for MJ and music. Prior to 1992 I liked music and some of MJ as well. One of the first CD’s my dad ever bought was the Bad album in 1987. I remember liking it, but I was very young at that time. All of 5 years old so I couldn’t really grasp how great that album was at that time. However, in 1992 my dad bought the Dangerous album, but it wasn’t for me, it was for my sister. Some how I started playing that album all day, every day in the summer of 1992 and I fell in love with it. The music was fresh. I loved songs like “In the closet” and “Dangerous”. After playing it out I went back to the bad album and played it. From there I would call around to stores and special order all of Michael’s albums out of print. I loved MJ. Later, for Bday in Nov 1993 I bought Dangerous the short films. There were some great videos on that album, “Black or White”, “Remember the Time”, “Give into me,” “Jam”, “Who is it”, “In the closet”. My god. So, I must take a moment to celebrate 30 yrs. of this Iconic album. Arguably MJ at his commercial peak. I thank god I heard this album. It sparked the flame for my first love Music!!! #mj #dangerous30 #music #album #kingofpop taken in Los Angeles, California by @soulfulinteraction

The Boston Tea party was one of the biggest protests in Colonial America against the British government. It is usually has being noted for being the catalyst for the American revolution. Why is this important? In a nutshell the United States of America was formed of protest and (eventually a war). In our history books these protesters are referred to as superheroes despite often destroying property and murder. Even in Modern America citizens (white) have had the right to protest in peace. I’m a baffled by the fact that a jury would acquit a young man who was aggressor. This 18 (which is legal and every state in the U.S) man killed protestors for doing something that is a given right. This was intention. All this verdict shows is there is a set a of rules. One that applies to white and another that applies to nonwhites. Why is that blacks are expected to abide by the laws without exception but do not receive equal protection in the justice system? If the roles were reversed and it was 18-year black man killed white protestors would he have been acquitted? Hell no. The courts are full of black teens that are sent to adult prisons for less heinous crimes on almost daily basis. This verdict reinforces the initial slogan Black Lives Matter. We must continue to fight but know that going out protesting we are risking our lives. If we want to show the victims of Kenosha justice, we must fight fight fight. If we don’t get out protest, vote, and build up our communities than the victims died in vain. That’s all.
