story time: Its been some time since I’ve posted new work (for many reasons). One reason being, I don’t wanna over saturate the art with meaningless work. So I put my services on hold and got into other creative positions. I needed time to breathe, put the inquiries on hold, and see the world outside of the lens for a while until I felt ready to create again. I respect all photography, but I also honor my process whether it’s film or digital and I don’t ever want to feel forced to create. So here’s some new work that I’m sharing…something that inspired me with someone who inspires me 🫶🏾

A part of being a photographer/creator means being able to archive and document my own life and history. Here are a few of my favorite images from my grandmother’s archive. She is my dad’s mom and I loved her so much as you can see us in the last photo of me and her sleeping on the floor, which is something that we definitely did a lot over the years we spent together. What I admire most about her is the fact that she took such pride in her home and I feel like that’s something that I carry on myself as well. All of my grandmothers really have put in a lot of time and love in their home and it shows as soon as you stepped foot inside. She was super fiery and fun. Her smile was big and her personality was even bigger. She didn’t play that shit and she knew how to throw down in the kitchen. She’s definitely missed, but her spirit lives on. by @soulfullvisualz
