@tylerdodsonmusic and @elizabethmccorvey met the day of this recording and had so much fun seamlessly working together an impromptu duet situation. These guys are the best and here Tyler assists while Elizabeth covers “Got My Mojo Working” by #muddywaters

Elizabeth is the problem. Just treat her nice and you’ll be ok 😉

But seriously, if you don’t know what you want/need how can anyone give it to you? This applies to all relationships including the musical ones.

Band dynamics can get sticky but clarity is kindness. Figure out what you need and then kindly ask for it so you can focus on what matters: the music.

3 months ago @rksbandofficial wasn’t even on my radar and now I’m obsessed. They put on such a great show in Charlotte.

Here’s your reminder that when a friend asks: You should always say yes to the concert. #indierock #ncmusic #musicdiscovery taken in Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre by @soulsessionsws

If you miss #90srnb this #newrelease is for you. And if you don’t know @nightlife_xo they consider themselves Baltimore Soulpunk. Amazing, right? I highly recommend their song “strangeluv” too. Definitely a fun emo soul fusion. 🖤 by @soulsessionsws

Last night I co-hosted the first Well-Being concert at @wfuniversity in partnership with #carnegiehall @wakethearts @secrest_series @wfucampuslife @hanesgallery

This special performance by @wearethegraes gave faculty, staff, and students a chance to disconnect from the noise of the world to reconnect with their most authentic selves and with one another.

“The creative and cultural practices we engage in can nourish our well-being. And when we bring the arts and
health together, we create more opportunities to live fully, deeply, and well.”

Stay tuned for more on this series! taken in Wake Forest University by @soulsessionsws

It really is shame that the same month I discovered this band @telltalerva I also learned that they’re calling it quits. But, listen, I get it. They’ve been at it for almost 10 years and it is grueling out there for musicians.

In a lot of ways it seems like you have to forsake all else to get your music out there. And no matter what your measure of success may be, if you’re not seeing enough forward momentum relative to the joys of life you want to live, hard decisions have to be made.

So while my heart breaks at this news, because these guys are JUST SO good, I respect the hell out of the fact that they gave us so much and are doing what’s best for their lives, loved ones, and future projects.

The silver lining: there music lives on…

Go stream my top 5 favorite #telltale songs. Drop your favs in the comments. And if you have time in Dec, hit up their farewell show in Richmond, VA.

Currently obsessed with @nothingbutthieves

They have a new album on the way (Sept 25) called Stray Dogs. The title track is very promising. More rock than sultry 80s sounds but still very exciting. In the meantime hit rewind with me and listen to their 2023 album Dead Club City #musicdiscovery #nothingbutthieves taken in Winston-Salem, North Carolina by @soulsessionsws
