Better late than never!

Listen back to the May edition (03) of the Sound Affects radio show, live from York Grove.

This one was recorded last bank holiday Sunday - a Cross the Tracks warm up per se with Fleas take on Frank Ocean, soul, MPB, salsa, jazz funk, weirdo Alex Turner AM tunes, stretched out bongo business, deep house and our first attempt of a jingle. More to come.

Video may have killed the radio star.. but it didn’t touch these two beginners!!

We’re back with the (albeit late) April edition of the Sound Affects radio show. As in March, the whole bag is thrown at this one from horizontal jazz finger clickers to upright dancefloor body movers. Nervous (and sometimes insightful) ramblings dotted in between. Give it a listen - link in bio.

It was a gorgeous sunny day when we recorded this and we may have got carried away with the reggae.. and we admit that.. and that’s fine..

We’re just landing back down on planet earth after the long weekend.. some musings to come in our May Sound Affects radio show 🚀

‘ello! 👋

A little announcement from us.. from March onwards we’ll be doing monthly Sound Affects Radio shows. This month was pre-recorded, but from April we will be streaming live to a new website. 📡

Check out the first one with Sam @samfromcheckout , recorded 18.03.26 - link in bio.

We will use the show to share new and old music, discuss the stories behind them, and chat with friends and guests who are supporting the scene 🤝. This month we have twin brother of the show @_alexlillie with some selections for the sunny-ish weather we’ve had!

We’re learning on the job, so please bare with, but there’s more to come on this front.

Also thanks to the @pluglondon_ guys for having us down to support @saigesounds and @benhauke___ on Saturday night. What a great space and sound! So much fun

Finally, @poisonzcora. A musician, producer, and DJ from London who, since moving from Dublin at the age of 18, has immersed himself in as many of the city’s musical worlds as possible.

His solo output as Poison Zcora is directly inspired by the wide variety of dance music that originally drew him to London, taking as much inspiration from the rugged sounds of Ward 21 as he does the tantalising harmonies of Kaidi Tatham.

2021 saw the release of his debut solo EP, The Mainly Incompetent 5, receiving support from the likes of Anz, Jamz Supernova, Moxie and more. Since then he has gone on to self-release a handful of EP’s, as well as contributing to the Club Series on Jamz Supernova’s Future Bounce imprint, all of which have garnered widespread club and radio support from the likes of Ben UFO, Gilles Peterson, Afrodeutsche, Ahadadream and Kornél Kovács, the most recent of which was also included in Mixmag’s The Best Album’s & EP’s of 2024.

We were lucky enough to have him warm up for us last year at Loki, and we can’t wait to have him finish off proceedings this Friday!

@last.nubian has been steadily carving out his space in the UK music scene with his distinctive explorations of house, broken beat and more recently, a special live show. (Shout out the lucky ones who caught it at WOH this year).

Growing up immersed in the sounds of classic UK club culture, Last Nubian has released a string of standout EPs on seminal independent labels. His Ghetto Child EP garnered critical acclaim, receiving support from Pete Tong on Radio 1 & Mixmag. This was followed by Babylon Shuffle on @errol.and Touching Bass, gaining wide attention including man like Gilles Peterson. More recently, Tre dropped We Celebrate Us on b2b partner @alexandernut mighty Eglo Records, further cementing his place within the UK’s vibrant underground scene.

We are really excited to have Last Nubian down to play alongside @alexandernut nut this Friday.

Up next, @graceshelleyy !

We were lucky enough to have Grace as a guest at the Del Dia day party in Deptford last year, and have wanted to get her back to play on a proper system ever since!

Grace is a London-based DJ with a deep-rooted passion and skill for radio. She’s held residencies at Balamii and has broadcasted on the airwaves of renowned stations including NTS Radio and Refuge Worldwide in Berlin. Alongside @darebalogun , Grace is part of the @rootstorhythm collective; a project dedicated to showcasing music of African origin, tracing its journey from its roots to the dance floor through radio and immersive listening sessions. It is obvious that Grace’s style and sound is heavily influenced by traditional African genres.

Grace’s talents also lie in the club where her sets explore all the great corners of the house music continuum. We caught her playing at the amazing Shortlist bank holiday party at the start of the summer and it was slamming. Catch Grace at the party next weekend!
