Thanks for all the love on the foster kittens video! I’m amazed at how many people watched all the way till the part I played Landslide for them 🥰. To be appreciated for two of the things I love most (cats/animals and music/singing) truly feels amazing 🥹🙏🏼

Fun fact: kittens are born blind and deaf! Their ear canals start opening up at around 5-10 days and they start being able to hear at 2 weeks. It can take up to 3 weeks for their ears and hearing to fully develop.

The foster kittens were about 2 weeks old here so it’s kinda cool knowing this is some of the first sounds they’re hearing in their lives! Gotta start their music journey young 😁

Hi new friends! I kinda let this page rot for a bit 😅 but it’s encouraging to find that people still wanna hear some songs 🥰

Here’s a snippet of George Benson’s “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You” from a few months ago. 💗 Lemme know if you have anything you wanna hear! by @soundofyue

It’s my birthday and I’d love nothing more than to sing to you! Come celebrate with me at my first solo show as I share some of my original songs as well as covers that I’ve loved throughout the years. I’ll be accompanied by guitar extraordinaire and wonderful human, @jayguitarvocal. It’ll be a small, intimate set at Wyldflowr Arts in Oakland.

Street parking is available but it’s also only a 10min walk from MacArthur BART Station.

Doors open at 5pm and show starts at 5:30pm.
Space is limited so get your tickets early at YueBday.eventbrite.com or use the link in my bio.

If you have Venmo and would like to avoid the processing fees, feel free to Venmo me the ticket price ($18) @soundofyue and put “Birthday Concert” in the description. I’ll send you a coupon code for the eventbrite RSVP :)

For other purchasing options (cash or Zelle), please DM me.

Let’s enjoy some music and have some cake! Hope to see you there :) taken in Oakland, California by @soundofyue

In 2018 (which I’m sure we can all agree was just 2 years ago right? 😅) I was part of a Ragnar Kjartansson project called Romantic Songs of the Patriarchy. More than 30 women scattered across the rooms and corridors of the SF Women’s Building all simultaneously singing popular songs with arguably misogynistic themes to bring awareness and inspire conversation about the prevalence of such topics hidden in the music we listen to everyday.

We were given 3-4 songs, mine were “Run for Your Life” - Beatles, “Love the Way You Lie” - Rihanna, “Hey Mama” - David Guetta. We sang and played our guitars over the weekend for THREE DAYS for HOURS at a time, looping the same song until our break time 🥵. I remember being so nervous because I hadn’t picked up my guitar in a while at that time so my callouses weren’t very thick. They had a masseuse in the break trailer and I never needed a wrist massage more in my life lol.. it took a couple weeks to regain sensation in my fingertips again and for my hand to uncurl itself 😮‍💨

Overall it was such a cool experience being a part of a performing arts installation and singing with the best women artists in the bay.

Highlight: Tracy Chapman attended one of the shows and I kept my cool singing just inches away from her 😱.. I think she enjoyed it 😊

P.S. that Beatles song is actually insane

Sharing some songs I’ve had on my phone but never posted. Been ramping up the live performances lately and meeting so many supportive people! I feel encouraged to post more 🥰

Someone said at an open mic that my voice reminded them of Jewel.. which was a new one 😅 haha. So I went back home and learned “You Were Meant for Me”.. was pretty excited about playing harmonics on the guitar for the first time 😁. What do you think.. do I sound like Jewel? 🤔

IG keeps messing up my long video uploads so you can find the full cover on my YouTube page. Link in bio.
