Here’s a little bit about the making of my new record ‘You’d Think We’d Be Used To Change By Now’

I’ve poured so much of myself into this record. Over the last couple of years, I’ve been writing, recording and shaping these songs across Castlemaine, Melbourne and London. It’s been my obsession, but even through all the doubt, the process of making this record has shaped me in more ways than I expected. ♥️

Over the coming months, I’ll be sharing more stories about the songs and the people I made it with.

Last time Dudley Flats Rockers visited Castlemaine the depths of their unfathomably deep dubs accidentally summoned Mad Professor 🔊🔊🔊

Ella Thompson and the crew putting down the tracks for her forthcoming long player Triumph & Sadness.

These sessions went down at Sound Recordings, Castlemaine, with Henry Jenkins at the controls and under the watchful eye of Alex Bennett.

My Weakness is the latest cut to be released from the forthcoming Triumph & Sadness. Pre-order the LP via us or @mrbongoworldwide ahead of the disc’s October 16 release.

Happy release day, Wholesome Prison Blues. 🌹

So about a hundred years ago I dreamed of putting together a 7-piece Tex Mex / Western Swing / Ragtime / Country party band like Bob Wills - with fiddle, steel, tuba, trumpet, all the good stuff - then cutting the whole thing to tape in an old barn like they did in the 50s and well that's exactly what happened. And the evidence has finally arrived 🌹

Stream her, spin her on your record player, treat her good and let her slow dance you into a shallow grave and pour hot sauce all over your head.

Thank you so much to the band, to @soundrecordings, to @ragged_gum_records, to @zenithrecords, to @big____dan, to @chrisfamiltonpublicity , @blokeyoucantrust (for all these incredible photos), and special thanks to the ghost of Bob Wills for possessing me long enough to write this twisted, Tex-Mexin', Western-Swingin', murder ballad devotional of a record.
