everglades water is called ‘ancient’ because it’s filtered through layers of limestone and aquifers that date back millennia. scientific monitoring hasn’t found nuclear-radiation contamination in the Everglades, though low natural background radiation exists everywhere. taken in Big Cypress Indian Reservation by @sourcefilms

WORLD’S OKAYEST SKATER TOUR 🛹🌎

we’re almost at the end of this entire series, and it’s hard to put into words what a beautiful labor of love this has been.

9 months of traveling with my sisters and the angels of GRLSWIRL ~ moving our bodies, taking up space, trusting ourselves, learning to fall and get back up, and watching women find confidence in themselves and in each other.

we shared so much along the way. we donated boards. hosted skate takeovers with 200+ women. created mentorship opportunities for girls who needed a little more support, community, and someone to believe in them. we laughed until we cried, cried until we laughed, and somewhere along the way, gained sisters for life.

that’s what made this a dream project for me.

it was never just about skateboarding. it was about community, movement, courage, confidence, friendship, and remembering what happens when women come together and make space for one another.

getting to travel for nine months and document all of this ~ the love, the lessons, the chaos, the belly laughs, the hard days, the tears, the tiny moments in between ~ is something I’ll carry with me forever.

this project will forever ring in my soul. 🤍

so grateful I got to witness it, live it, and tell a little piece of the story through my lens.

the first 2 episodes are out! keep an eye out for the next 9 episodes! ( in final review ) a lot of loooove went into these so I’m thrilled to share them with you all !!

hey there. I’ve been working on a documentary in the Amazon, & it’s time to ask my community for support.

the Amazon is one of the last great wild places on Earth & its health affects all of us.

the carbon it holds.
the water it cleans.
the air it helps us breathe.
the biodiversity & countless species it shelters.
this incredible interconnected circle of life we are all a part of.

there is so much we can learn from the Indigenous peoples who have protected & lived in relationship with these lands for generations~the skills, crafts, ancient knowledge, stories, ways of living, & understanding that the land is not separate from us.

this film is an attempt to listen.

the Indigenous community I’m working with have asked to speak to the modern world—to share what they know, what they are protecting, & what is happening to their land.

they are asking for support in getting their story beyond the forest.

& it’s an incredible honor.

so I’m making this documentary to learn from & support Indigenous communities in the Amazon~to understand the landscape, listen to the stories, and help bring attention to protecting their land & culture.

if I ever ask you for anything, I ask you for this.

this is my life’s work. my mission. my calling.

my path is to listen to, amplify & support Indigenous communities; to learn these ancient ways; to rewild & decolonize my own life; & to remember our relationship with the natural world.

because somewhere along the way, we forgot.

indigenous communities remind us that every object has an origin. every material comes from somewhere. every resource carries a responsibility to give back.

the water. the forests. the people. the animals. the stories. the land.

this is what matters.

it’s about what our children will inherit—and whether they will still know what a truly wild place feels like.

if children arrived through a glowing doorway in the earth,
people would travel across oceans
just to kneel before it.

they would build temples around its edges.
stand watch through the night.
lay flowers at its feet.
protect it from every storm.
no one would ask the portal
to prove its worth.

yet the portal has always existed.

She breathes.
She laughs.
She bleeds.
She breaks open
& brings life through her own body.

a woman is the first home
every human has ever known.

she is the closest thing we know
to creation itself~
not because she is less human,
but because within her
the impossible becomes ordinary.

so honor her.

not with empty worship,
but with steady hands.
with safety.
with tenderness.
with respect that asks for nothing in return.

protect the one
who protects tomorrow.

care for the one
whose body has carried generations.

serve not from superiority or submission,
but from reverence~
the kind we reserve
for forests older than memory,
for oceans that sustain us,
for sacred places
we know must never be harmed.

if the miracle had been made of stone,
we would build monuments around it.

instead,
the miracle walks among us,
laughing,
crying,
creating,
loving.

& somehow,
we forgot to bow.

the circle of life. every migration, every hunt, every bloom, every tide is a reminder that life moves in rhythms far older than we are. we were never meant to lead the dance~we were always meant to be part of it.

somewhere along the way, we forgot. or maybe we were taught to forget. we were told we stood apart from nature, when in truth we have always been woven into it. we are not a burden to the Earth; we are one of its many expressions.

the reef remembers. it is home to countless creatures, each one playing its part, each one relying on the next. the savanna remembers. the forests remember. the rivers remember. the Earth has never forgotten what it means to belong.

predator and prey. death and rebirth. growth and decay. nothing is wasted. everything belongs. the wild doesn’t apologize for its cycles, and maybe neither should we.

when we remember this too, something ancient stirs within us. we return to instinct. we soften our grip. we listen instead of control. we move with life instead of against it.

watch a reef. watch a lion. watch a seed split open. the same current that moves them moves us. we aren’t visitors here. we are the Earth experiencing itself.

and maybe that’s what nature’s music has been trying to teach us all along. every birdsong, every crashing wave, every chorus of insects at dusk, every whisper of wind through the trees, every whale’s call beneath the sea~each one is a note in an orchestra that has been playing since the beginning of time. no voice competes. none stands alone. together, they become the soundscape of life itself.

the moment we remember we are one of those notes~not the conductor, not the audience, but part of the song~we stop trying to conquer the dance.

one of my favorite parts of this journey has been meeting women who quietly dedicate their lives to protecting this planet.

Amanda @amandasavesfish is one of those women.

a marine biologist with grit, brilliance, and an incredible heart, she’s out on the reefs doing the work most people never see. just one part of Amanda’s incredible work is investigating reef damage and restoration. she and her team dive, monitor, and analyze reef damage, and when cruise ships negligently strike our reefs, they help hold them accountable. the settlements don’t just end there~they’re directed back into restoring and protecting Miami’s reefs.

a team of women in their twenties creating real, measurable impact for our oceans. how badass is that?

spending time with Amanda reminded me that conservation isn’t just a dream or a hashtag~it’s science, advocacy, persistence, and showing up day after day for something bigger than yourself.

thank you for sharing your knowledge so generously and for inspiring all of us to become better stewards of the sea. your work ripples far beyond the reefs you protect.

cheers to Amanda~for leading with courage, getting your hands dirty, and proving that one passionate team can make an extraordinary difference for our oceans. 🌊💙
