🌍 A few weeks on, and we must not let the conversation die down.

Labour’s approval of the Jackdaw gas field is a reckless decision with consequences for our climate, our communities and future generations. The headlines may have moved on, but the climate crisis hasn’t.

From extreme heat and flooding in the UK to rising sea levels in Bangladesh, catastrophic floods in Pakistan, droughts in Senegal, desertification in Nigeria and environmental destruction in Palestine, communities worldwide are already paying the price.

🌱 Working together across local Green Party in Kent, in collaboration with Kent Muslim Greens, we are raising our voices, challenging the government and demanding a genuinely just, renewable energy future.

📢 Share this reel. Keep the conversation alive. Hold the government accountable.

The climate crisis doesn’t wait for headlines to return. Neither should we.

This Budget makes some welcome moves, but it’s still working within the same broken system. Labour’s numbers add up on paper — yet they leave the real drivers of the cost-of-living crisis untouched: an economy hooked on fossil fuels, a housing market that prices people out, and public services patched up rather than rebuilt. The Green vision starts from a different question. Not “how do we manage the squeeze?” but “how do we end it?” That means taxing the unearned wealth at the top, not the work of ordinary people. It means warm, affordable homes that don’t cost the earth to heat. It means investing in a green economy that creates secure jobs — and doing it without pushing the bill onto the next generation. A Budget is a statement of priorities. This one still treats the climate crisis as an afterthought. We think it should be the starting point.

The government tells us that data centres are nationally significant, meaning private developers can bypass local planning laws to have them built

If they are critical British infrastructure, why not be under British public ownership?

Great British Data Infrastructure would put the power back in our hands, allowing us to create a clean green data alternative to privatised big tech
