🦈 Absolutely thrilled to be off to Southend in April to perform in the jaws-themed Southend Improvathon!! The show runs from 7PM on Friday 17th April, through to the evening on Sunday with a wild 48hrs of continuous improv! I’ll be playing through the night on the Saturday, starting at 7PM, playing the world’s pre-eminent specialist in algaes and seaweeds… if that doesn’t sell it for you, I don’t know what will! Let me know if you’re coming - would be lovely to time travel with friends!!! 🌊 📆 17 - 19 April, 2026 📍 Palace Hotel Southend by @southend48thon
Come along to The Palace Hotel between the 17th-19th April 2026 for an experience like no other ❤️ ticket link in bio! ⬆️ by @southend48thon

HE JUST WANTS TO BE LEFT ALONE! This week, we are celebrating the amazing Chris Mead! An Improvathanon veteran, this year we saw him as actual Jason Statham- between fighting a thousand ninjas, being chased across the world and trying to save Shamity Island, he certainly deserves a break! Chris is also one of our fabulous directors and we are very lucky to have him as part of our team ❤️🥷 📸 @gazdevere by @southend48thon
SHE WANTS BAD, BAD NEWS… but it can only be good news when we’re celebrating the wonderful Sheila Lord! Making her Improvathon debut this year, Sheila searched for a scoop as news reporter Jennifer Anchor. Teaming up with the bad guys, Sheila wowed audiences in excellent scenes and soaring songs. What a way to break into the Improvathon world! 📸 @gazdevere by @southend48thon
It’s Celebration Wednesday! This week we are celebrating Lauren. In our last Improvathon she played Belle Champs, a plucky young scout leader desperate to measure achievements in badges and approval. Through her emotional and reflective journey, Belle realised it was not the achievements that made the person, but the heart. Fun fact- Lauren runs the Improvathon social media account throughout the year, and made Improvathon player @ashleyedwardscomedy write a caption about her as there was no way she was writing her own 😅 📸 @gazdevere by @southend48thon
It’s Celebration Wednesday, and this week we celebrate the one, the only, John Oakes! From Squint’s shack to a shark show-down, you never know what to expect when he enters the stage- what we can guarantee is laughter and hilarity wherever he goes! Fun fact- John has taught improv to the vast majority of our players! 📸 @gazdevere by @southend48thon
Welcome back to Celebration Wednesday! This week we celebrate our very own Emily Jane Kerr- EJK! EJK is an Improvathon veteran, this year appearing as local café owner Mabel Syrup. EJK is always full of joy, laughter and support in every scene she’s in- what a star! 🌟 📸 @gazdevere by @southend48thon
‘No Sham, just Ity!’ This week we are celebrating Luke Coldham, who this year played mayor of the town Larry Luck! We also got to witness his flawless impersonation of Alan Carr while filming with Renée and Steven Spielberg! Luke’s hilarity, supportiveness and quick wit are always enjoyed by both cast and audience members alike 🦈 📸 @gazdevere by @southend48thon
Welcome back to Celebration Wednesday! This we celebrate the lovely Mujtaba Walji, who in this years Improvathon played Captain Goofy, leader of a pirate crew! Mujitaba brings his cheerful demeanour and joyful presence to every scene he’s in 🏴‍☠️⚓️🌊 📸 @gazdevere by @southend48thon
WHEN I SAY SAVELOY, YOU SAY ‘OI OI!’ How does one describe Jamie Cranfield? Joy, silliness, chaos incarnate would all be accurate descriptions! This year Jamie wowed audiences in his role as Mickey the Grass, and also as the Camp Lady. Other highlights include squeezing into a very small telephone box and a very hairy final Joker. Fun fact- we hung two sets of real shark teeth from our set, kindly provided by Jamie and his taxidermy collection! 🦈 📸 @gazdevere by @southend48thon
This week, we celebrate the incomparable Ali James! Founder and director extraordinaire, she is also a fabulous player, with highlights from this years Improvathon including her appearances as Mickey the Grass’s loyal sidekick Reggie the Pup and actress Laura Dern. How lucky we are to have Ali as both a director and a player! 🐶🦈💙 📸 @gazdevere by @southend48thon
