Happy album release day @noonemind! 🎉 Back in early 2025, Ellis invited me to play a set with him. He had several new songs – actually, a whole album already recorded. It was really exciting to hear and learn these songs, especially as a fan of previous NOM releases, and it was my first time performing in a few years (grateful to shake the dust off!). There were a few songs he was still chewing on, and kindly invited me to add some classic CK noodles™️ onto (Me and My Room, The New Student) and some textured rhythm (7 O'Clock). 🎸 We also spent a day at @smallpondfarmnc with @samankhoujinian, taking a simple phone recording demo from Ellis, collaborating on writing parts, and tracking the song (Did You Know My Name?). ✨ The record "Soft Work / Hard Dreams" is out today on @thirdunclerecords 🎧 An excellent band of Very Serious Musicians (adding @southernist and @patrickmcgrewmusic to the mix) will play on Friday October 16 at @catscradlenc with @slow_teeth and @mindovermirrors to celebrate the release. 🚨 Handsome boy alert 🚨

We're quite excited to announce a special performance celebrating the release of "Soft Work / Hard Dreams," No One Mind's third full-length LP at the @catscradlenc Back Room on Friday, October 16.

We'll be playing a full band set featuring the talents of @tender_shreds @southernist and @patrickmcgrewmusic. Friends @slow_teeth and @mindovermirrors will graciously share their music with us for the night, calling on primordial soundscapes and carnal hooks to set our art pop sensibilities aflight.

Just a little catchup post:

Life is a big and beautiful thing and I’m grateful.

In the last 12 months I’ve managed to go around the world (literally and figuratively). The peaks and valleys of it all have just felt much more pronounced this past year.

-went out to Singapore to meet my work colleagues

-managed to squeeze back into a van, hit the highways and stepped onto a lot of fun stages with good friends

-won a boxing tournament in San Diego (after training harder than I ever had before)

-turned 40 😎

-lost one of my dearest friends and bandmates (will love you forever, Ray 🖤)

-witnessed another marry the love of his life

-just found out another is going to become a father this Spring

-watched my nephews get lankier and my big sis continue to evolve her super-strengths

-stayed constantly in awe of Amy and all she does, especially putting in the constant work towards connecting seniors with our community for Meals on Wheels

-and meanwhile I still get to work with artists, still get to make music, write songs, explore and push my limits, and spend time with the love of my life every day.
I’m still riding for my family, friends, and community.

I guess this is just me reminding myself to stay in that place of gratitude as firmly as possible. Every day is different and every day can bring out something worthwhile, but not for nothing and with no guarantees.

Looking forward to everything to come, have been feeling very musical and motivated more recently, so at least I know something’s lining up the right way between my spirit and my brain.

So the story is: back in May I entered a Masters Division boxing tournament in San Diego to finally go compete for the first time, just shy of my 40th birthday. I rolled out there with my love Amy @grassbellied and Coach Kenny Williams @k_press42 - and I dogged my way through 2 game opponents to win my bracket.

It was a lot of hard work and it fulfilled a longstanding goal of mine to finally stamp my USA Boxing athlete passbook, which for myriad reasons was sitting blank.

I owe a big thanks to Kenny and the team at Pride Boxing @prideboxfit for providing me a steady place to work and improve. That gym and community won me this and I will be grateful forever.
Coach was a MAJOR factor in taking the 2 wins back-to-back against these slightly younger guys. It also feels worth mentioning my day-2 opponent had a bye in our bracket and was able to come into our bout fresh!
But *NOBODY* had a bigger advantage than I did having Coach Kenny in my corner, truly.

I’m very grateful to both of my opponents and I appreciate that everybody won at this event just by stepping in there and showing up for themselves. Both guys tough as hell and made me dig!

Thankful to have had the love and support of my dearest friends and bandmates who came down from LA, as well as Coach Daphney from NC!

I’d encourage anyone curious to just come start working with us to get in shape and have some fun at Pride. You don't have to compete or participate in contact exercises to work tough and feel great. Boxing has become a lifestyle for me and an absolute boon for my mental health + wellness.

I've never won anything quite like this, the experience has filled me with deep gratitude and has really proven how work and preparation translates to results. Anyone can do this if I can, believe in yourself!

Big Ups to the boys Lonnie Walker @lonniestalker for their album release show last night. Thank you guys for your drive and determination to continue doing what you love, as we all reap the benefit.
