The gatherings we remember most aren't usually the fanciest or the most expensive ones. They're the ones where someone met us at the door, had a seat for everyone, and made it known they were genuinely happy you came. Apple’s new Siri can now read your texts, find your grandmother’s recipe in an old email, and write your grocery list - all completely for you.

But what do you lose by outsourcing those tasks? You lose the phone call to ask grandma how she really makes it. You lose seeing her handwriting on that recipe card. You lose the slow moment to write a grocery list on a pretty notepad. You lose the chance to make the invitation really special by sending it by mail.

Those were never the chores. Those were the whole point.

Let’s let AI have the spreadsheets, but not the party planning.

A few vintage hosting staples we’d love to see make a comeback! ✨

There’s warmth in the way we used to gather way back when. Unhurried, always charming, and entirely about the company. We think all of these vintage hosting staples have stood the test of time beautifully & deserve to make a comeback.

From the “drop in” visit back when an unexpected knock at the door was met with a slice of cake and a cup of coffee, to the molded salad wobbling proudly in all its glory - some things are worth reviving!

These are my two favorite cookbooks that I actually reach for whenever we’re hosting a summer dinner party. They’re splattered with sauce and have all kinds of post-its and notes throughout them because I use them so often.

Sharing my favorite summer menus found within these two cookbooks - I hope these inspire you to host before summer ends!

📕 The Art of the Host by Alex Hitz - this is my go to when I really want to impress. Everything I’ve made from this book has been exceptional!

📙 Deep Run Roots by Vivian Howard. This book has hundreds of recipes & is perfect for when you want to cook with seasonal produce. It’s one of my most used cookbooks of all time.

One of my favorite traditions is sending guests home with a small jar of homemade preserves. It’s simple, thoughtful, and made with whatever the season is offering. Long after the table is cleared and the candles have burned down, that little jar becomes a reminder of a beautiful evening shared.
