#ad Wasps officially picked the wrong garden this summer. 😅

I spend so much time outside harvesting flowers, growing food, and chasing three little boys around the backyard, so I wasn’t about to let wasps take over our favorite space.

I also love my happy little garden bees, so finding a solution that didn’t involve spraying my garden was really important to me. I found exactly what I was looking for with the @spectracide Wasp, Hornet & Yellowjacket Trap and now I can get back to enjoying the garden I work so hard to grow. 🦋

Everyone gets excited about spring gardening… but if you ask me, fall is the BEST season to grow a garden. 🍂

Here’s why I actually prefer it:

🍂 Fewer pests and bugs to battle
💧 Cooler temperatures mean less watering
☀️ Plants aren’t stressed by extreme summer heat
🌼 Most fall vegetables don’t require pollination, so you don’t have to worry about a lack of bees.
🥬 Crops like lettuce, kale, cabbage, broccoli, carrots, radishes, spinach, and more absolutely thrive in cooler weather.

If you’ve always thought gardening ended in August, think again. Some of the sweetest, most productive harvests happen in the fall.

Now I realize it’s usually found in the quiet moments:

harvesting vegetables before breakfast,
arranging flowers from the garden,
baking bread,
making jam,
watching my boys start another summer day.

Don’t be intimidated to try this recipe, it’s so easy!! One basil plant can give you handful after handful all summer long… and this is one of my favorite ways to use every last leaf. 🌿

Homemade basil oil takes just a few minutes to make, keeps beautifully in the fridge, and instantly makes everyday meals feel a little more special. Drizzle it over pasta, caprese, pizza, roasted vegetables, soups, salads… you’ll find yourself reaching for it constantly.

It’s a…. 💜 GIRL!!! Meet Lettie!! Our best failure yet 🥰

We couldn’t resist, we foster failed! This sweet little 6 month old sheppie girl from @freedomgsrescue is officially our newest family member!!

We love her to PIECES already. She’s soooo snuggly, so spunky and incredible with our 3 kiddos. We couldn’t ask for a better girl! But like most rescues, sweet girl has already had a rough start to life, so we aren’t wasting anytime and little girl is already booked for puppy summer camp with our favorite trainers ever that we’ve been using for 12 years! @sofetchk9 so excited to see how she shines with some confidence, love, and patience 💜 by @southerntoatea

First garden harvest of summer! ☀️

My garden is probably a bit behind others but that’s ok!! I’m a busy mom just doing my best 🥰 so it’s mid July and I just got my first full basket so far this year! And hopefully tons more to come!

I love growing unique things so in this harvest you’ll see:

It’s a war on bugs kids 😂 organic gardening means looking REAL sketchy to the neighbors. But really, I’m doing everything I can to protect my garden I worked so hard to grow!

Im stocked and ready to fight the good fight. Tonight’s bug of choice was the darn flea beetles ALL over my eggplants lol they’re lucky I didn’t bust out the butane lighter lol

Tomato season is officially here… so I figured this recipe deserved its own comeback. 🍅

This Tomato Bruschetta is one of those recipes everyone asks me to bring. Juicy tomatoes, fresh garlic, shallots, Parmesan, olive oil, and red wine vinegar come together into the most flavorful topping for toasted baguette and creamy burrata.

If your garden is overflowing with tomatoes (or you grabbed way too many at the farmers market), this is the recipe to make first.
