Intro to Modern Calligraphy Class with Kate ⁠
⁠
Join local calligrapher Kate Edwards at South Main Creative to learn the basics of modern calligraphy! In this two and a half hour class you’ll learn about the supplies used for pointed pen calligraphy, how to hold a pen holder, letterforms and how they’re assembled, and⁠
troubleshooting tips and tricks. You’ll walk away with the ability to get ink flowing from nib to paper and all the tools needed to practice and develop your calligraphy skills. Supplies are provided and are yours to keep. Lefties welcome! Ages 12+, please.⁠

Materials fee includes:⁠
● Class packet containing upper and lowercase exemplars, practice sheets, practice⁠
words, guidelines and an abundance of tips, tricks, and resources.⁠
● Pen holder⁠
● 2 nibs⁠
● Inkwell and ink⁠

Stained Glass Basics Classes with Katelyn!⁠

We have 2 Stained glass classes coming up, One on Saturday, October 17 and one on Sunday October 18-check it out. There are only 3 spaces per class, sign up at the link in our bio!!!⁠

Learn how to turn a design template into a beautiful stained glass suncatcher! Students will choose from 6 beginner-friendly templates to create their piece. Learn how to cut and grind glass to fit the design and then foil and solder the pieces to create a stunning hanging work of art. Students will learn tips and tricks throughout the workshop that will help guide future choices in the craft and optimize chances for success! This class is intended for beginners who are new to the craft of stained glass, or those with experience who just need a refresher or more practice.⁠
⁠
Please arrive a bit early to pay your materials fee and get settled, as instruction will begin promptly at 11:00. We will need every bit of the 5-hour class to complete these projects! You must wear closed-toe shoes and no exposed legs. Please bring a large water bottle (that closes completely) and a snack.⁠
⁠
Materials/supplies fee covers: stained glass, sticker paper, solder, flux, copper foil, nitrile gloves, hanging materials, cleaning materials, handouts, tool/equipment and possibly a band-aid or two.⁠

Suddenly… the Elm’s Attic hat space @southmaincreative has a whole new vibe! With hat boxes moving out and new hat carrying cases moving in… along with some new friends to help me display the hats! It’s been a long month with a lot of activity. Some good, freeing up energy and moving things along, and some not so great, threatening to stifle creativity and forward progress. If you love vintage fabrics, you don’t want to miss this exciting pop-up featuring hundreds of pieces from Orbiting Debris and Regalia Handmade!⁠
Catherine of Orbiting Debris is liquidating her shuttered art pillow studio (Kiddy Cats Eye pillows, for those who may remember), which includes hundreds of fabrics. These were vintage when they were purchased in the 1990’s-early 2000s, and have been in storage for 20+ years. Most date from the 1950s-70s.⁠

You’ll discover mid-century atomic and floral barkcloth fabrics, garment and upholstery velvets in a rainbow of solid colors and prints, silks, corduroys, brocades, wool, novelty cottons, a fabulous collection of 1950s loop frieze fabrics, upholstery prints, and more. If you buy vintage fabrics, you know fabrics like these are becoming SCARCE!⁠
