#wheelgunwednesday with a 1966 @smithandwessoninc Model 10-6 Pinned Heavy Barrel. I’ve always loved the look and feel of these bull barrels and combined with the superb S&W bluing it’s a real looker.

This one has the wear in all right places…muzzle, cylinder, yoke, and behind the trigger guard on the front strap. This one was carried a lot, but well taken care of, and is my ideal condition for vintage guns. Sure a new unfired in the box gun is a time capsule and I love those too, but knowing someone relied on this Smith and carried it often is far more interesting to me. Happy Collecting and Enjoy! #smithandwesson #model10 #38special #sixgun by @southwestmunitions

#wheelgunwednesday with a 1939 Colt Official Police in .38 Special. This pre war @coltfirearms sports a 5” barrel with walnut checkered grips and silver pony medallions. The Offical Police was built on Colt’s medium frame and was nothing more than the Army Special (1908-1927) renamed in 1927, to better reflect the more prevalent law enforcement usage. The AS/OP action also laid the ground work for the Python which debuted in 1955.

The bluing on these pre wars is just something else. Aside from some holster wear, handling marks, and a decent scratch on the right side of the frame, this 87 year old finish still looks beautiful. The Colt knurling on the hammer, trigger face, and thumbpiece is also a nice feature set which you won’t find on post wars. Hat tip to @doubletap_1911 products for helping to clean it up and making it shine like 1939! Happy Collecting and Enjoy! #colt #coltfirearms #38special #revolver by @southwestmunitions

Magnum Monday with the revolver that started it all.
Smith & Wesson’s “The .357 Magnum Revolver”, aka the Registered Magnum.

This is Registered Magnum number 3270 and it was ordered on October 23, 1937 by the Kentucky Highway Patrol to be used as a training gun in their Police School. It was completed and shipped out of the factory on November 18. 1937. Captain Ed Blue of the Kentucky Highway Patrol ordered it with a 4.5” barrel, Baughman front sight on a King ramp, and a square notch rear sight. It was ordered to be sighted in with a dead center hold at 25 yards, with .357 magnum ammunition.

I can’t imagine how many rounds have gone through this revolver, or how many different cadets shot this gun, but I can tell you it still locks up tight and shoots lights out. It still gets out to the range regularly, and it’s happily living a retired life and will continue do so as long as I’m its caretaker.

Magnum Monday
This line of 7 shot GP100s in .327 Fed Mag was over before it ever got started. I understand Ruger produced only six examples, and by some miracle, I wound up with the test sample from @lipseysguns via @tyler_gun_works . With all the things going on at Ruger currently, this is likely the end of the line for any hopes for this model and configuration to be produced. Maybe newer, better stuff will come about in the future. Until then, I’m going to keep this one and use it as intended.

Along with some solid .327 FM from @high.desert.cartridge , I had some healthy .32 H&R Mag handloads from a friend I intended to test. Unfortunately, I got thwarted by rain last week, and the range was busy today. Range report will be forthcoming soon… by @southwestmunitions

Snub Nose Sunday, the first day of November, brought more rain to the Valley of the Sun and what better gun to tote around in the rain than the @coltfirearms Stainless 3” Python.

Fitted with @tyler_gun_works American Holly grips, this is extremely well balanced and quite capable of most any task at hand. I’ve been very pleased with mine in terms of quality and accuracy and hope you’ll have the same results if you should choose to snag one. Let’s see those snubs tonight! #colt #coltpython #357magnum #snubnosesunday #revolver by @southwestmunitions

44 Friday
At Revolver Fest, I won these Colt Bear Hug Grips from @tyler_gun_works in a giveaway. Unfortunately, I didn’t have another Colt to put them on, and having grips without a gun to go on violates the laws of the universe and brings an imbalance to The Force. I was reminded by @bryanwithaynoti_ that if I didn’t have a gun to fill those grips, I should probably go ahead and get that 44 Anaconda. Nuff said, my dude!
After shooting the Anaconda yesterday, it was clear that the factory stocks, while highly attractive, are not the best for serious shooting. They even had some sharp edges that my decades-of-shooting-magnums thumb did NOT appreciate. Thankfully, we had that covered, thanks to Bobby, Bryan, Jason, and all the folks who make Revolver Fest what it is.

It’s #45friday are we’re bringing some two-tone heat all the way from Germany 1997 with the Sig Sauer P220 in .45ACP. Electroless nickel slide over a black alloy frame just pops and really sets this apart from other P series pistols. Sig’s stuff back then was such top quality and this one measures right up there with the best of them. This one also found with me with @xssights and having never used those before, I have to stay I’m a fan-rapid target acquisition is impressive.

I’ve been chasing after a German or West German P220 for quite some time and thanks to a good buddy, that has been crossed off the list and will be in heavy rotation! Happy Collecting and Enjoy-go shoot! PS-threw some Scorpions on there for you Germans! #sigsauer #45acp #p220 #germany by @southwestmunitions

It’s 10/20, 10mil Tuesday, Glocktober…had to pull out the @glockinc 20 in 10mm. Yeah I know, I went through a red anodized phase just like most everyone else and have never got around to changing the trigger back. News flash…stock is best. This FDE Two-tone is oufitted with @wilsoncombat sights, brass pin set, and a really sharp Texas Flag brass backplate from @classyraptortactical that patinas over time. The Glock 20 holds 15 rounds and is an all around super useful platform that can even be converted to .45ACP that mimics a Glock 21. 10mm has a lot of bullet weight and loading options which is a huge plus…any 10mm fans out there??? As always, Happy Collecting and Enjoy! #glock #10mm #glocktober #glock20 #texas by @southwestmunitions

It’s #45friday with some new shoes for the @rugersofficial NM Blackhawk 45 Convertible. I ordered some off the shelf Maple grips from @ls_grips and the fit and finish of these is fantastic!

I had a bit of a wonky grip frame, which is a notorious issue for Rugers, so my grips were way out of place. I reached out to LS to make sure I had ordered the correct frame size and ended up speaking with Lance, the owner…yes the actual owner, and we talked for almost 20 minutes about grips, frames, fitting, and several routes I could take to make my grips work. Eventually this Blackhawk will get a true custom set fitted to my frame, which LS can do as well, but for now I think these turned out awesome and love the color contrast! Good dudes and good grips over at LS Grips. #ruger #colt45 #45acp #lsgrips by @southwestmunitions
