I've really been getting into fabrics this year, making clothes, accessories, interior pieces and incorporating fabric into my paintings.

Last week I made these matching footstools by hand with zips to remove when washing/ cleaning.

Bold, vivid colours and patterns actually make me feel alive!

London meet culture!

You do not always have to assimilate to your environment to thrive.

So I like to randomly upcycle things and I had every intention of throwing this table away and then I came up with the idea to bring it back to life!

I covered the table top in fabric and then put a transparent acrylic cover on top, spray painted the table legs and then made cushions with the remaining material by hand (I haven't got a sewing machine yet).

"Willow's Tribe"
100 x 120cm
Acrylic on canvas and fabric
2026

This painting represents the opposite of my childhood in primary school.

I received alot of racial abuse in primary school and there was about of 4:25 black children to white children in the year.
All the black children were separated into different classes or tables throughout different times of the day which now looking back, I believe was done purposefully and systematically.

Even on our lunch breaks we barely engaged and alongside the racism and bullying this hindered my social skills and I didn't really speak or have any friendships until I got to high school.

Most of my lunch breaks were spent sitting alone with my imagination and sketch book.

I wanted to paint a representation of a few of the black children as adults in West African print winter clothes (representing UK weather), with cultural hairstyles, jumping for joy, unapologetically united while celebrating one another.

There was a huge Willow tree in the centre of our playground, hence the Willow tree in the background.

My personal experience in primary school is not a topic I like to discuss often as the memories are not the happiest, but by painting this piece, I get to rewrite some of my trauma into joy and healing.

FYI I also made and stretched the canvas from scratch, first time!

"Peace at the Edge"
2025
100 x 100 cm
Acrylics on canvas

Showcasing the beauty of a woman in true natural form amoungst nature.
She is beauty itself, finding peace and self value at the edge of a world that has pushed her there, and that is only when she truly finds herself.
Inspired by my trip to the Seven Sisters cliffs, UK and Sudanese model @adutakech
