Puerto🇵🇷Rico. Culture. Community.

This week, I attended Watts on the Water, a fundraiser for Puerto Rico hosted by @kindsuninitiative

I invited mi hermano @dasomonster to join me for an evening where music, food, culture, and community came together in support of the island.

Shout out to @djmickeyperez, @uptownvinylsupreme, @taina.enikeyi, @mariocancelbigay, @blackricanvegan, @lapiranalechoneraz and everyone who contributed their talents, energy, and time to the cause.

Last week, mi hermano Pablo and I took this picture next to Madison Square Garden.✨

A week later, Wu-Tang Clan took the stage at halftime with the Knicks down 29 points.😳

The comeback that followed felt bigger than basketball.✊🏼

It was a reminder of the spirit that has always defined New York—a city built by dreamers, grinders, and believers. People who keep showing up, keep believing, and keep moving forward no matter how stacked the odds are.😤

Because the Knicks aren’t just a team. They represent a community of fighters who refuse to quit.🫡

Pablo and I are proud to be part of that community.🙌🏼

A beautiful time was had gracias a Miguel Angel “Mike” Amadeo & Mike Amadeo Jr. y Los bros Giraldo Luis Alvaré | Pablo Segarra. What a welcome as we discovered so much rich musical history at Casa Amadeo.

Jengibre was also featured in the Casa Amadeo Doc by Ariana Marie Luque. Thought I’d sing a little verse. He loved it.

Mike Amadeo is a legendary Puerto Rican songwriter, musician, and cultural historian from Bayamón, Puerto Rico. He is the longtime owner of Casa Amadeo — the oldest continuously operating Latin music store in New York City and an important landmark in Nuyorican music history.

Mike worked alongside salsa legends during the golden era of Latin music and wrote songs recorded by artists like Celia Cruz, Cheo Feliciano, and El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico. One of his most famous compositions is the classic song “Que Me Lo Den en Vida.”

The Official Loisaida After Celebration

Brought to you by Piragua Art Space x Siempre Pa’lante x Grace Exhibition Space

Sometimes you wonder if the vision in your head will connect with people the way you imagined. Then there are those rare moments when it becomes something more. This was one of those moments.

Beautiful to see Loisaida come alive. What started as a procession became cultura en la Avenida C. The sounds of Plena in the streets. Neighbors, artists, families, and community moving together.

Gracias to @kinto_zono_official for leading the procession and reminding us that our traditions are alive!

Special thanks to my brother Giraldo Luis Alvare for always believing in the power of this community arts revolution.
