While our exhibition 'Light' is v close to opening (keep your eyes peeled for our announcement 👀), we'd like to introduce you to illustrator most extraordinaire, @roryisdrawing. An artist drawn to the simple satisfaction of using ink, biro and pencil to create a "really good line", Rory acknowledges a sense of isolation that comes with the artistic gift, reflected in a "cold and reflective" quality to his art. we dip our hat to you Rory, glad to have you involved! 🙌 #illustration #illustrator by @space299_art

What better way to welcome the weekend than to say hello to another great artist exhibiting with us. Hello @angelis.studio 👏

Michael Angelis lives and works in Port Chester, NY, USA.

His work focuses on landscapes in flux, such as urban ruins or highway construction, as well as fast-food and carry-out packaging as seen in this post's pics.

There is a deep understanding and reverence for light and shadow on forms, as well as texture -- qualities which help the viewer create a visceral understanding of the presence of the scenes or objects depicted.

Great to have you with us Michael! 🔥

While we're busy getting our first show ready, today is all about introducing another great artist who will be exhibiting.

Say hello to May Cheung Grant. 👏

Inspired by nature and a lover of colour, most of her work is created spontaneously. With a background in Graphic design, Cheung Grant uses composition, layout and colour to create vibrancy and energy.

Glad to have you exhibit with us May...welcome!

3,2,1...back in the room!

It's been a while but we are delighted to highlight our latest artist....@martin.langston.artist

A trained Graphic designer, Martin now creates art in a modern Pop Art style.

"With the exception of paintbrushes, I have rejected traditional art materials. I don’t use oils or acrylics, I paint using ordinary household emulsion. The stuff you would paint your bedroom walls with, and I don’t like painting on canvas either. I use hardboard, MDF or plywood, and often recycled builders' waste."

Welcome Martin, glad to have you on board!

If you'd like to exhibit with us, simply get in touch. 🙌

It’s our pleasure to spotlight the next artist exhibiting in our exhibition "Light", the excellent Trudy Mulligan.

With a degree in fine arts from the University of Canterbury in NZ, she has work in various international private collections and public galleries.

Her work deals with themes of the sociopolitical and distilled abstract beauty that reflect her perspective as an artist with a disability.

And a reminder that our call for artists is has been extended and still open...so for your chance to exhibit alongside Trudy and other great artists, sign up on our website now [Link in bio]

Dear Artists,

Growing up and being surrounded by art—an artist mother, an artist wife, and having attended Central St Martins myself—I have witnessed too many talented artists marginalised and priced out of opportunities to showcase their art. Traditional galleries often act as gatekeepers, determining who is 'worthy' to exhibit based on profit potential.

I established Space 299 to shift the power back to you, the artists, and to promote art and creativity. Our goal is to provide a platform where you can exhibit your work to the world and sell it, ensuring you receive the earnings you deserve for the countless hours you’ve dedicated to your creations.

While we are not a charity and must charge a nominal fee to cover the costs of our website, virtual gallery, and the time invested in organising and promoting exhibitions, we are committed to keeping these costs as low as possible.

Our focus is on placing you, the artist, at the forefront of our mission. Space 299 may never make me rich, but that’s not my goal.

Space 299 is still in its infancy, but with your support, I believe we can create a bright future for all involved.

Thank you for being a part of this journey.

Sincerely, Benji Taylor
Founder of Space 299
