For Emmy’s celebration of life we all decorated a rock and were asked to spread her love around.
So we decided to take it all the way from the East Coast to the West Coast at the beautiful Cabrillo National Monument.
She loved animals, so to be with whales and sea lions sounded perfect with the ocean view that she loved.
She was the sweetest girl with so much love for everyone. 💗💗💗

If you are staying in Verde Valley with kids you have to check out @sciencevortex
We were at one of our favorite @thousandtrails in Cottonwood and a Facebook ad came across our feed about a little science center doing a free Rube Goldberg inspired night. So we figured we would go check it out.
What a surprise this was. Yes it was small. But man did they have a ton of stuff packed into it.
The kids got to experiment and play with everything for about an hour.
Then they all teamed up and had to get a ball from point A to point B….Rube Goldberg style.
Each kid picked an area/material they wanted to work on but had to make sure that it corresponded with the next so the ball could keep moving to the end. Then they were taught a lesson on gravity and momentum and how they work together.
Long story short….make sure to check this place out!
When we head back to that area we will be that’s for sure!

Rips FIRST time out on the trail was a doozy.
He was doing awesome and the stoke was high. He was still a little iffy of me on the bike behind him so I jumped in front and just had him follow.
Then about 1.5 miles in, I stopped to give him some water and double check the trail map.
Hopped back on the bike and within 100 yards, came around a corner, hit a downhill section and BAM.
There was a 2ft rattlesnake laid out across the trail and there was no way to stop in time.
All I could do was lift up my feet and go around.
But I knew Rip was behind me. So I slammed on the brakes, turned around and started yelling & screaming at him hoping it would spook him enough to stop. But that is one thing we hadn’t trained him to do. So he picked up the pace and ran towards me thinking he was in trouble I guess?
The rattlesnake had curled up after I spooked it and was now facing the direction he was coming from.
Right as he passed the snake it struck and I 1000% thought it hit him right behind his left leg.
After checking him up and down, over and over, I realized he was one of the luckiest dogs on the planet.
Somehow the snake struck but did not get him at all.
Our boy lives to Rip another day!

There is not much more that pisses us off than seeing our national parks being defaced!
We sadly see it all the time on rocks and trees but this is the first time we’ve seen it happen on an entrance sign.
It’s wild how some people just don’t give a crap about anything or anyone but themselves.
Luckily we had some hand sanitizer and napkins in the truck & with a good scrub, it came off so we could still get our family picture.
I know we aren’t the only ones that have seen this BS!

Everyone that travels full-time in an RV knows…things are going to break.
We got to our boondocking spot right outside of Zion and found out the generator would not charge our batteries.
And with our simple off-grid set up…we need our generator to top off our batteries.
One of the breakers kept popping, and the Multiplus inverter/charger needs both legs of the generator to charge them.
After some investigating I noticed this wire bundle was sitting right against the spring. In aviation this is a big no no, so it stuck out to me.
I took a set of pliers, moved the wire bundle over and sure enough, there was a hole chafed into one of them. Which meant it was grounding itself out and popping the breaker.
Stole some wire loom from another bundle in the storage bay, wrapped it around the chafed bundle so it wouldn’t come into contact with the spring…and BOOM! Problem solved!
Breaker no longer pops and the inverter/charger is doing its thang!
This is a perfect example of why you need to be at least a little handy to live this life.
Problems and breaks WILL happen. Sometimes you won’t have access to parts/RV techs or you will be in a situation where it needs to be fixed ASAP.
This life is all about learning and adapting.
If you are not learning how everything in your rig works and how to fix it, then you are in for a treat. And you better have deep pockets.
Plus…the feeling you get when you figure out what is wrong and then you fix it? EPIC!

Online isn’t your only option. I know homeschooling can sound like a lot especially while traveling but workbooks are a great option as well! If you didn’t see Parts 1 or 2, make sure to watch those 1st to see how we got to this point!
Don’t worry about bending & cutting the cotter pin like I do…that is my aircraft maintenance OCD shining through 😅
Feel free to bend it up like 99.9% of others do and it will have the same effect.
MOST IMPORTANT STEP!⬇️
Look up what your specific rig/axle lug nut torque is.
Do not just tighten it as much as possible, guess or just use an impact gun. The correct torque value is extremely important to keeping your wheel on and not damaging the bolt studs!
One step I also did not mention (also very important) comes after all of your bearings have been cleaned, greased and brakes/wheels reinstalled.
That is to drive 50-100 miles, pull over and re-check the torque. Sometimes the movement & vibrations of the initial drive can loosen things up.
Honestly, it’s just good practice to add re-checking of lug nut torque to your pre-travel checklist in general.

It never fails. When I set up & start cleaning/greasing my wheel bearings, multiple people come up asking how to do it, how much would I charge, etc.
So I decided to record the process and show easy of a job it really is.
You don’t need any crazy tools or knowledge to complete it.
As full-timers & even weekenders, you should already have all the tools needed.
On top of that, and more importantly.
You NEED to know how to work on your own rig. You NEED to know how systems work on your rig.
Because as much as we all hate to admit it. Problems and things breaking WILL happen.
