still suspicious that I passed through a multiversal rip somewhere around Mallow on Tuesday and none of this is real; but honestly, what a dream to win Irish Novel of the Year at Listowel @writersweek ✨️ the shortlist was absolutely lit and I feel very honoured to have been considered among them. thank you to everyone who made this happen! I will be returning to my second book with renewed energy just as soon as I've had a spice bag and a big sleep by @spacedolphin_

it's US publication week and I can't really process this new york times review (the fact that it even exists, and that it is so thoughtful and complimentary); will hopefully come to terms with this forthwith but for the time being my brain just keeps calling it "the times of nyeeww yawwk citaaayyy" in the voice of matt berry by @spacedolphin_

𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪 📕

Thank you to Irish author Gráinne O’Hare @spacedolphin_ and @picadorbooks for the complimentary copies of International Bestseller: 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗽.

We had great fun reviewing this hilarious, relatable, brilliantly chaotic book at our women’s monthly post-run meet-up! (We run, and then we hit the pub!). And just like the book, we focus on fun and friendship. Thank you to @deelyons54321 and @kirsti_kotilainen for sharing their insights, we can’t wait for the sequel Gráinne!!👀😄

And hey, if it’s good enough for @dakotajohnsonsu Tea Time Book Club then it’s good enough for us!💛

people always talk about the "difficult second album" and I thought it would be an abject nightmare to write this book but it was honestly not the level of horror I was expecting! it was far worse by @spacedolphin_

one mad, mad year of my firstborn being on bookshelves ✨️ seeing her out in the wild is always a delight but finding the girls in my old local library a few months ago was particularly special; I spent so many hours holed up in the corner of that library when I was a weein and the stories I read and wrote there made me the author I am today. if I could give that little girl one piece of advice it would be to sort out her damn posture because one day she is going to be on deadline for her second novel doing scapular squeezes at her desk to relieve a tension headache after years of hunching prawnlike over novels and notebooks. thank you as always to everyone who's been lovely about Thirst Trap! support your local libraries! over and out x by @spacedolphin_

We’re delighted to announce that the winner of the 2026 Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year is... Gráinne O'Hare!

Gráinne's debut novel, 'Thirst Trap' is a standout work of contemporary Irish fiction set in Belfast, exploring themes of female friendship and grief with honesty and humour.

It's a great example of the quality of literary talent that exists across our small island.

A distinctive new voice on the scene, Gráinne joins a remarkable list of previous winners including Kit de Vaal, John McGrehan, and Claire Keegan, whose winning works were later adapted for television and film.

As sponsors of the Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year for the past 32 years, this moment is always a special one for us, as we celebrate the originality and creativity of the shortlisted authors.

Congratulations once again to Gráinne, and to all the shortlisted authors 👏

over the moon and so so honoured to have been shortlisted for two @thesocietyofauthors awards this year ✨️ it is continually surprising and wonderful to see my debut novel get recognition like this, and I'm also truly delighted to be on the tom-gallon shortlist - this is a story about art and existential dread that begins at a wake in omagh and ends at the louvre in paris and it is hugely validating to learn that this is anyone's cup of tea apart from mine by @spacedolphin_

my firstborn is clocking in more regenerations than doctor who at this point (if you include all the versions of her that exist in the bowels of my laptop) - Thirst Trap is now out in paperback (UK and Ireland) 💋 and out in translation as Weird Girls (Germany) 🐆

I had reread this novel a million times but not for ages, and until recently I had not read it ~cover to cover~ in a literal sense; it was actually a really fun read?! who knew. thank you to my publishers for the ride of my life, and to everyone who's spent time with this book over the last year; I love my girls and I hope you do too x by @spacedolphin_
