COVERED IN SKY IS OUT NOW

About the EP art:
After taking the picture of me in 2016 (I shared it in my last post) you can see layered under the collage my talented ❤️mother❤️ @rochelleeaddy played with overlaying images of magnolias with each other creating images within images. The piece is called Jacketed Gene Flow. Jacketed because me in my jean jacket and I’ll explain what gene flow is.
In population genetics, gene flow is the transfer of genetic material from one population to another. If the rate of gene flow is high enough, then two populations will have equivalent allele frequencies and therefore can be considered a single effective population. (From Wikipedia)

The idea behind Jacketed Gene flow is that because the subject (me) is so deeply emersed in nature, gene flow will occur between the blooming flowers and her child who at the time was deeply suffering, the flow of genetic information having a healing effect.

It’s been in galleries my mom is awesome! Thank you for birthing me!

Thanks 🌺@letsgomogo 🌺for taking beautiful pictures of me, being so so supportive of me and being a wonderful friend!

✨KATE DERRINGER✨ @spaceladie thank you so so sooo much for creating such a safe and comfortable space for me to record and birth this project. Thank you for recording, mixing, and mastering in my tracks with such care and attention!!

And thank you to everyone that has listened through the EP with me and let me know what it’s meant to them.

Thanks everyone for being so supportive it means the world!!!!

About the EP:
Electric bass ran through effects pedals paired with poetry that contemplates the idea that there are no true boundaries between the human and the enviroment. Foraging a space of stillness and meditation, Covered In Sky reminds the listener of what’s real.

For me, this EP is medicine that’s why I’m not posting any of it on this app. It’s for people, not training AI (meta uses all of our post to train AI) If you want to own the EP and can’t afford to hmu!

Take some time to listen intentionally, go for a walk outside with headphones, or lay in bed and let it lull you to sleep.

May this EP bring you closer to yourself. by @spaceladie
