My heart is heavy as this morning we had to unexpectedly say goodbye to Professor, the king of all of our hearts.

Professor came into my life over 14 years ago where he was one of the last of his litter to find a home. The first time I met him out in Long Beach he ran outside and up a small tree next to where I was standing. He hated traveling even though we took the LA transit system from Long Beach out to the north end of the valley, and then later from California to Colorado.

Professor won over the hearts of everyone who saw a photo of him. Although he was never the fan of people outside of his small family. He’d hiss at anyone who knocked on the door no matter who it was. The quickest way to earn his trust was through treats, especially turkey, ham, or pastrami from the deli counter. He loved to lounge around, sleep in boxes, and play with all of his catnip toys.

Stephanie, his brother Fig, and I will miss him dearly. He’ll be in our hearts (and tattooed on my arm) until the end of time. Employee of the Month forever. I’ll miss you little dude, life won’t be the same without you. by @spaceruben
