to know him is to love him.

✶

a little bit ago, I held my best friend while he fell asleep and closed his eyes for the last time. I kissed his sweet face and whispered nothing but my unwavering love for him over and over. I absorbed his warmth and engraved every inch of his face, his breath, and his way of being into my bones like it was hot iron being shaped.
he was more than a dog. he was my very best friend. my soulmate. my ride or die. my muse and the very air I breathe. he showed me love rooted in presence. one that could never be said but only shown and felt.

Oh my little bear, how I love you so, miss you dearly and dream of you often
