Harvest Update 2026 from the winemaking team at Sparkling Pointe 🍇 Long Island Wine Country

“We began harvesting our first grapes on September 5th, and have continued to receive fruit every day since. Vineyard crews started with Pinot Noir Clone 4 at the home farm behind the winery, followed by Clone 667 and then Pinot Meunier. Today, September 9th, they are finishing up the Meunier in the field east of the winery. Next, they will move over to our vineyard on Route 25 to continue picking Pinot Noir. Chardonnay still to come.

What had been looking to be an early harvest all summer long was interrupted by rains in August, which continued through veraison, leading to a slowdown in grape ripening and an increase in disease pressure. So, while harvest has begun on almost the same day as last year (September 3rd in 2025), we have significantly higher acids and lower Brix than we did in 2025.

The good news is that there is high-quality fruit out in the vineyard. However, the picking crews are having to move very slowly and be highly selective about what they bring to the crush pad, leaving behind any damaged clusters.

On another positive note, we have had some lovely, sunny, warm days over the last week. These conditions should result in higher Brix, lower acids, and more generously flavored fruit coming into the winery in the next few weeks, helping to balance out the lighter, higher-acid lots we have seen during this first week of harvest” #sparklingpointe #harvest #vineyard

Six unique sparkling wine stations are set beside special guest Long Island oyster farmers and East End restaurants. Live shucking showcases oyster varieties raw and our guest chefs grill, roast, and fry with freshly made mignonettes and toppings.

Your ticket includes a walk-around tasting flight of six Sparkling Pointe wines paired with a two dozen (24) combination of raw and prepared oysters.
