The Collection: Freedom of Expression

Different looks. Same man. New permission.

The symbolism wasn’t necessarily intentional when I packed the suitcase, but looking back, it FITS.

🤷🏿‍♂️There’s something kinda poetic about returning to the place where you first began discovering who you were, dressed in the confidence you might not have had back then.

This year, Marcel came home wearing a little more of himself, a little less caution in his wardrobe, and a lot more freedom in his spirit:

To layer disruption over convention. To mix respectability with a little resistance . To wear colors that refuse to apologize for being noticed. To mix the refinement expected of a grown man with the audacity I wish I’d possessed as a younger one.

Some will appreciate the aesthetic. Others may question the choices. Neither response changes the joy I found in making them. by @speakhayes

@solstrick Last seen at the SpelHouse tailgate with a flight to catch, a Sigma tent to revisit, a ride to locate, luggage at somebody else’s house, and an Atlanta Falcons game standing between him and the airport.

As of this posting, we have not received confirmation that Brother Solan made it to his destination. 😂✈

Now y’all KNOW I wasn’t just asking for birthday money. 😂

A man who loves data, asks too many questions, and overthinks everything was absolutely going to turn a fundraiser into a social experiment. Who would I be if I didn’t turn my own birthday into an opportunity to study human behavior? Tomorrow we unpack.

Instead of gifts, dinner, or a traditional birthday celebration, I’m inviting friends and supporters to “add up their check” and give what they might have spent celebrating with me. Every contribution will go toward creating a Southern HBCU experience for 20 middle school and 20 high school boys from Boys’ Latin. Choose something from the “Birthday Menu,” give that amount or whatever feels right, and help turn my birthday into an investment in their future. by @speakhayes
