Speaking of…Books! When I saw @lilacsandliterature version I knew I needed to jump on the bandwagon. Texas book lovers, you’re going to want to save this one! 📚🤠 Did you know the Barbecue Capital of Texas has a BOOK FESTIVAL?! I took the kids to the very first Lockhart LitFest, and between 18 indie bookstore tents, local authors, book panels, storytelling, and all that small-town Texas charm, I’d say Lockhart understood the assignment. 👏 We loved seeing some of our favorites like Pecantown Books & Brews, Painted Porch, and First Light Books, plus discovering even more local bookstores to add to our never-ending list. Definitely one you want to put on your list for next year! 📍 Lockhart, Texas 📌 SAVE this for your next Central Texas adventure! 💬 What’s one Texas bookstore or bookish event I absolutely NEED to visit? 🤎 Follow @speakingof.books for Texas bookstore tours, hidden gems, book festivals, reading recommendations & a little mom life along the way! #LockhartLitFest #TexasBookstores #CentralTexas #speakingofbooks #IndieBookstores taken in Lockhart, Texas by @speakingof.books

🏚️👻 Some houses are haunted. Others should’ve been burned to the ground years ago. 💀 There’s just something about a creepy old house, questionable noises, doors that shouldn’t open, and characters who absolutely refuse to LEAVE that makes for the perfect spooky season read. Whether you like your haunted houses full of ghosts, family secrets, psychological suspense, or something a little more sinister, these are the books I’d add to your October TBR. 📚🖤 👻 SAVE this for your next spooky read! Now tell me, what’s the BEST haunted house book you’ve ever read? I’m always looking for another one. 👀 #HauntedHouseBooks #SpookySeasonReads #HorrorBooks #speakingofbooks #BookRecommendations taken in New Braunfels, Texas by @speakingof.books

🍷📚 WINE DOWN REVIEW Please Enjoy Your Stay is out now & I liked it… I just didn’t love it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I went into this one expecting an atmospheric, edge-of-your-seat thriller with a little paranormal twist, and while the potential was definitely there, it never quite delivered for me. The pacing was slow, the character development felt a little underwhelming, and the paranormal elements seemed like they wanted to go somewhere but never fully committed to the bit. 👻 For a relatively short book, this one took me WAY longer to finish than it should have. It just wasn’t one I felt the need to keep picking up. BUT I’ve seen some seriously mixed reviews, including 5⭐️ ratings from reviewers I trust, so don’t let my experience stop you from giving it a chance! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you @atriabooks @atriamysterybus for the gifted copy! 🖤 💬 Have you read this one? Are you adding it to your TBR, or have the mixed reviews made you hesitate? - #WineDownWednesday #PleaseEnjoyYourStay #speakingofbooks #BookReview #speakingofreviews taken in New Braunfels, Texas by @speakingof.books

🎃 TODDLER TUESDAY: SPOOKY SZN EDITION 👻📚 Who says spooky season is just for grown-ups?! 👀 As a mom of 3 toddlers, I’ve accumulated quite the collection of Halloween books, and these are some of my favorites for getting little readers into the spooky spirit! 💀🧡 From silly monsters and adorable vampires to interactive books, Halloween counting fun, and stories that help little ones navigate BIG feelings, there’s a little something for every tiny monster. 🦇 We love a good Halloween read that gets the kids laughing, learning, and asking for just one more book before bed. Even if that means reading the same one 47 times. 😂 📚 COMMENT “KIDS SPOOKY SZN” and I’ll send you a link to my full list of favorite Halloween books for little readers! 👻 SAVE this for your next library trip or spooky season book haul! 💬 What’s your little one’s FAVORITE Halloween book? I’m always looking for more to add to our collection! #ToddlerTuesday #raisingreaders #KidsBookRecommendations #ToddlerBooks #speakingofbooks taken in New Braunfels, Texas by @speakingof.books

🎃☕ Coffee & Currently Reading: Spooky Season Edition 👻📚 My toxic reader trait? Being the WORST mood reader and deciding I need to read approximately 47 books at once. 🫠 It’s October, my TBR is screaming, and apparently my solution is to start another book. And another. And another. Because why commit to one spooky read when I can have a different book for every possible mood? 🦇 📖 Currently haunting my nightstand: 👻 All the Beastly Things — thanks @atriabooks @atriathrillers @atriamysterybus for my ARC. Out 11/17/2026 🔮 Bodies of Magic — Straight from my October @aardvarkbookclub box! 🕸️ There Used to Be People - thanks @berkleypub for my ARC. Out 11/3/2026 🩸 Revenge Plot - thanks @berkleypub for my ARC. Out 11/10/2026! 🎧 Strange Lights — Currently in my ears! Thanks @recordedbooks for my ARC! A little spooky, a little mysterious, and a whole lot of literary commitment issues. At this point, I’m just embracing the chaos. 😂 Ayou a one-book-at-a-time reader, or do you also have five books going depending on your mood? 👀 What are you currently reading this week?? - #CurrentlyReading #CoffeeAndCurrentlyReading #speakingofbooks #nowreading #mondayvibe taken in New Braunfels, Texas by @speakingof.books

Wine Down Wednesday is getting a little weird this week. 🐈‍⬛🍷 A creepy cat, increasingly disturbing nightmares, and illustrations that make this supernatural thriller even more unsettling? Sign me up. Today we’re talking about Look What the Cat Dragged In by Jason Rekulak, and I have THOUGHTS. 👀 Is this one worth adding to your spooky season TBR? Grab a glass of wine and let’s discuss! 💬 Are you a supernatural horror reader, or do you prefer your thrillers a little more realistic? What are you reading tonight?? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My full review is on SPEAKINGOF.ORG (🔗in bio).
