We can hardly believe it was this time last year that we took the plunge and decided to hold our first night, testing the water on so many levels.

Fast-forward a busy year of holding our own nights, taking over decks and dance floors, joining other events as guests, and appearing on radio shows and podcasts, and we’re now planning our first birthday party.

It’s been quite a ride, and we’re ready to celebrate.

We hope you’ll join us.

As soon as we have more details, we’ll share them with you.

There are several components that make one of our nights work, the DJs who give their time free of charge being a crucial one.

Without their generosity we’d not be getting feet on the dance floor to bring it to life. We’d not be raising awareness and funds for men’s mental health (@talkclubcharity). We’d not be creating a community that supports and gives people a sense of belonging.

This is the power of people.
This is the power of music.

Thank you to the DJs!

We’re just finalising our line up for our first birthday party on 14 November (5pm-12midnight) @tothemoonbristol and will be sharing this with you soon.

See you on the dance floor SOON 🧡

This time last week we were just getting into our session with @roomtwodjs at the fantastic @theloveinnbristol, a brilliant night supported by @shindigfestival of coming together, music, dancing and fundraising for @talkclubcharity

What’s more, the truly wonderful Silkie from @theforgebristol captured the night in all its joy. What lush pictures. Thank you.

Pete Bones’ love affair with music began after being expelled from school aged 15, when he formed a band with two friends, teaching himself guitar and drums. After discovering Ibiza, ecstasy and acid house, he swapped his drum kit for a pair of Technics turntables and began playing illegal parties across the South East.

His first residency came in 1990 at the Hand & Spear in Surrey, where he quickly established one of the UK’s biggest midweek nights. Guest slots across Europe followed, alongside the launch of Ugly Bug Records in 1992 and his first major club hit, ‘Just Lick It’, as The Shaker. He later signed to XL Recordings and played extensively across the USA.

Always drawn back to the underground, Pete launched Red Ant Records, championing deeper, darker dance music. He is also behind the much-loved Fear & Loathing parties, now firmly established at Brighton Electric, where he is an official resident.

About last Saturday’s TAKEOVER @theloveinnbristol

Invited by @roomtwodjs to bring our project to Last Bus Home, Saturday night absolutely blew us away!

We filled the place with friends old and new and SU&D regulars, while the carefully selected beats drew curious people in from the street. The vibe was amazing, the dance floor bounced, and our little community grew a little bigger.

What’s more, we raised an incredible £559 through DJ fee donations, raffle tickets, merchandise and @bristolbeerfactory’s Clear Head sales, allowing us to make a great donation to @talkclubcharity while keeping a little back for new pin badges to help us raise even more next time.

We have a lucky raffle winner for the prize @shindigfestival kindly donated, who’ll be announced soon (watch this space).

Thank you to everyone who made the night such a success.

Bristol-based DJ, promoter and passionate music collector Ben Daley’s (@djbendaley) love affair with dance music began in 1989. After buying his first turntables in 1993, he immersed himself in rave, hardcore and early jungle, building a record collection spanning more than three decades.

Moving to Bristol in 1997, Ben became a familiar face on the city’s club scene, championing early UK Garage and 2-step, while playing on pirate and community radio and guesting on BBC 1Xtra.

In 2004, he teamed up with Deli G to launch Roasted, a much-loved Sunday party that became a Bristol institution, welcoming guests including Kerri Chandler, Marshall Jefferson, Todd Edwards and Danny Rampling.

Today, Ben’s sets span house, garage, disco, afro, Latin and old-school gems, with a focus on great music, infectious energy and getting people moving. He is also part of Room TW2 DJs, our hosts for the night.

During the night the Speak Up & Dance crew will be selling raffle tickets to raise funds for @talkclubcharity with the chance to win 2 adult @shindigfestival tickets worth £390.

Our friends at Deep @depbristol are providing the perfect afterparty to our early-start, early-finish takeover this Saturday with @roomtwodjs.

What’s more, they’re bringing one of our favourite DJs to town – Scottish deep-house maestro Craig Smith @craigsmith_67, one half of @6thboroughproject. He’s not one to miss.
