How do we stack up?

@30secondgolflessons gives his opinion. In only 4 months, he has seen significant gains. He is certified as a PGA-Class A instructor. Only 6% of all instructors hold this high of a certification. He has a very informed opinion.

The longest hitters don’t swing harder. They sequence faster.

Speed isn’t effort — it’s recoil. The trail hip loads, the rib cage separates from the pelvis, and the body stores tension like a spring. Then it releases. You build a wall on the lead side, the club fires, and it looks effortless because it is. Nothing is being forced.

The guy grinding for more distance is doing the opposite. He’s tightening up, swinging from the arms, and bracing against a body that never loaded in the first place. There’s no spring to release — so he throws everything at impact and the clubhead actually slows down.

You can’t out-effort a body that can’t rotate. Build the load. Build the separation. The speed was never something you add — it’s something you finally let out.

Everyone wants to rebuild this swing.

Every keyboard warrior, PGA pro, online coach.

Nobody’s asking why his body put him there. That bend, the hitch, that early stand-up…it’s not a flaw, it’s a workaround. His swing is the symptom. The source is a body that ran out of room to turn.

You can’t coach your way out of a movement problem.

A stronger grip doesn’t just close the clubface. It closes your chest too.

Crank the grip strong and the face shuts down more, but now your chest has a harder time opening up as you turn through.

Look down at address. How many knuckles on your lead hand can you see?

Most golfers treat the trail foot like a kickstand. It should be pushing. Half kneel, back toe tucked.

Push up off the toe and let the pressure build slowly before the knee lifts.

Then lower it back down with control. The slow part is the whole point.

Different courses. Different clubs. Jake Knapp’s swing doesn’t change.

Eleven swings, and the body does the same thing every time. The feet stay planted on the way back. The trail foot rolls up onto the toe on the way through. The chest finishes facing the target.

Most golfers chase consistency with swing thoughts. But if your hips and upper back can’t turn the same way twice, your arms make up the difference, and they make it up differently every shot.

A repeatable swing starts with a body that can repeat the turn.

If your hips don’t turn, something else will. Usually your lower back. 90/90 sit, tall chest, walk the hands out and fold over the front shin.

Breathe, come back up, repeat. If this feels impossible, that’s the turn your backswing is missing.

Comment TURN and I’ll send you the breakdown.

Standing up in your backswing usually isn’t a posture problem.

Watch what happens when the right hand sits over the top on the grip. The club gets stuck in front of you. There’s nowhere left to turn. So your body borrows: it stands up and comes out of posture just to get the club back.

You can drill “stay in your posture” all season. If the grip and the turn don’t give you room, your body will keep finding the same workaround.

What we check first: How your trail hand sits on the club How much your upper body can actually turn Whether you’re standing up by choice or by necessity

Training to hit it further? Most golf fitness programs miss two things.

Your swing isn’t even. One hip is forward, one hip is back. So train strong in that position: one leg, or one leg back with one hip shifted forward, not only with your hips square.

Load your glutes while they lengthen. That’s how they create force into the ground in your swing. Squeezing your butt at the top of a bridge doesn’t train that, and it can build a pattern that won’t help you down the line.

That left miss isn’t random.

Most golfers fighting a pull or a hook never really get into their trail side. They’re on the lead side way too early, then everything whips around and the ball goes left.

Once you can feel what your body did on the miss, the fix gets quick instead of a guessing game.

Everyone watches the club. Watch his feet.

On the way back they stay quiet and his hips do the turning. Into the ball the trail foot stays down. Only after impact does it roll up onto the toe.

If your trail foot spins out early or your turn stops at your arms, a swing tip won’t fix it. Your hips have to be able to do this first.

Training to hit it further? Most golf fitness programs miss two things.

Your swing isn’t even. One hip is forward, one hip is back. So spend more time training strong in that position, not only with your hips square.

Load your glutes while they lengthen. That’s how they create force into the ground in your swing. Squeezing your butt together doesn’t train that, so you don’t get the benefit.
