When you child asks you to make them a bday cake. You bake them a cake.

I haven’t baked a cake in so long. 🥹 Somewhere along the way, turning baking into a business took the joy out of it for me.

But making this one for my babies felt different. Seeing their faces, hearing how excited they were, and knowing I made something just for them made every bit of the effort worth it. 🤍

Maybe I don’t need to bake for everybody anymore… just for the moments that mean something.

And now that I’ve made my annual contribution to the family bakery… back to retirement I go. 😂🎂 by @specialkplan

Our baby girl turned 4 today and Jordan turned 2 last month.

We celebrated them today.

Journie asked me to make them a cake. So I came out of retirement for a day.

And just like that… summer is coming to an end. 🥹

Looking back at some of the food, garden harvests, grilling, and meals we enjoyed this summer. So many simple moments, but definitely some of my favorite ones.

The garden is still giving, so I’m not quite ready to let go of that part just yet 😂🌿 But I am going to miss these long summer days and everything that came with them.

Garden to table

When your garden gives you tomatoes this pretty, you have to make them the main character.

Heirloom & Sungold Tomatoes over Lemon-Basil Whipped Ricotta 🍅🌿 Serve it will some toasted sourdough bread 👌🏾

Recipe ↓

Whipped ricotta

* 1 cup whole-milk ricotta
* 1–2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
* Zest of ½ lemon
* 1 small handful fresh basil, finely chopped
* ¼ tsp kosher salt
* Freshly cracked black pepper

Tomatoes

* Sungold tomatoes, halved
* Heirloom tomatoes, sliced into wedges or thick slices
* More fresh basil leaves

For finishing

* Extra-virgin olive oil
* Balsamic glaze
* Lemon zest
* Flaky salt

Tomato girl summer(with my best girl) in full effect.

I’ve been dreaming about this tomato confit 🤤

Super easy Recipe
2-3 cups Sungold tomatoes
4 early girl tomatoes
Good olive oil (almost cover tomato’s)
8-9 garlic cloves
Salt and pepper to taste
Handful of thyme

Bake on 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Store in airtight container up to 7 days.
