The last 10ish months of my dragonstaff journey have mostly been me, YouTube tutorials, and my front yard. Before @flame.festival, I had only spun fire once and most of the people I looked up to were online. Now I’ve gotten to play with fire multiple times, learn from those same people in person, and build real friendships. Truly inspired by how creative this community is ❤️‍🔥

Hi friends! This page is about my roamin and flowin journey, and I haven’t said much about one of my biggest roaming adventures- the peace corps!
So I’m here to shamelessly plug the Peace Corps and encourage my fellow adventurous people to look into it. Volunteer numbers are at an all-time low since COVID 🙁

Serving as a health volunteer in Sierra Leone, West Africa was one of the most transformative experiences of my life. I lived in a rural village with no electricity, no running water, no Americans close by, and not a lot of people who spoke English.
Peace Corps isn’t a mission trip or a 2 year long vacation. I worked in my local clinic , gave public health talks in schools and throughout my village, and worked alongside people in my village on different health projects.

The Peace Corps is the “toughest job you’ll ever love,” and they are 100% correct in saying that. With the crazy highs come some incredible lows, and you really feel that throughout your service.
I’m incredibly grateful that I went through that experience and challenged myself in that way but It definitely isn’t for everyone. if you’ve ever thought about living abroad, doing meaningful work, challenging yourself, or just completely uprooting your life for a few years, I highly recommend looking into it.

There are opportunities in 60+ countries and quite a few different sectors. My experience was in Sierra Leone working in public health, but I’d be happy to talk to anyone who is curious about what it’s actually like- the good, the bad, the weird, and everything in between. I definitely saw some crazy things.
