We are two days out from our next @onelovefromthesun, a sunset dance in the alleyway at @green.room.nyc. We are elated to introduce our second guest for the occasion, Chicago’s secret weapon, @specter708.

Andres Ordonez aka Specter developed his signature style of the Chicago house sound over a span of 25 years. Specter’s interest in house music piqued in the 80’s, when the wunderkind genre blew up in the city of Chicago. Specter would tape and devour the novel, often raw and eventually legendary mixes from Chicago radio. Early influences include DJs like Farley Jackmaster Funk, Edward Get Down Crosby, Mickey Oliver, Bobby Q Bobby, Lee Collins, Lil Louis and the inimitable Ron Hardy.

Specter started DJing at the age of 15 playing house, disco and italo. Spinning at basement parties around the city and suburbs. When Chicago’s loft-party and rave scene started to take off in the mid-90s, Specter began incorporating the edgier, minimal heat of Detroit techno into his sound. By 1999 and 2000, Specter had established himself as a respected DJ through his many mix tapes and playing loft parties around the city.

He Also co-founded a production label with Damon Lamar aka Baby Pop called Tetrode Music with various releases between 2000 and 2009. Between those years and present he has released a string of EPs on labels Downbeat, Sistrum, Semantica, NDATL, AMR, Perpetual Rhythms, Deep Explorer,Sequencias, 2nd Hand, Into The Deep, Finale Sessions, Fundamental Sounds and Eargasmic Recordings. In 2010 he connected with Sound Signature boss Theo Parrish and released the PipeBomb EP. Followed by The Gooch EP in 2013 and the full length album Built To Last, which was one of the top albums of the year on RA, and Rolling Stone praised it as an “Album You Need To Know.”

Specter’s sound brings the real balance between soul, industrial, techno, disco, deep house and everything in between. Its infectious groove can only be described as pure bonafide funk.

Catch Specter’s undeniable rhythm this Sunday from 6pm until 2am. The party is free before 7pm with RSVP, along with other reduced entry options at the ticket link in bio. by @specter708

Peace family 🌞 After a string of park jams over the last 6 weeks, @onelovefromthesun is excited to be back at Green Room for an outdoor sunset beater in the alley with two of our favorites from Detroit and Chicago, @deonjamar + @specter708. Deon and Specter were both meant to play earlier this year and serendipitously will now be playing together for what promises to be a night of musical bliss to wind down the summer. As always we’ll have food on deck, plus @blackrecordfair will be activated in the indoor space with records and more from some of our favorite local black vendors. This is not one to miss! We are raising funds to sustain the remainder of our outdoor season so please buy a ticket or donate so we can keep this independent grassroots thang goin! Free with RSVP before 7, and reduced price ticket link is in the bio. Tell a friend and see you there! 🌆

Big thank you to label boss & head honcho Manos @ethos.records for sending me this promo. Always appreciated when something this good lands through the letterbox, and this one will definitely be cherished in the WBW88 collection.

Four deep cuts of stripped back, heads down underground house music.

Specter – Moving In Silence EP

A1) When It’s All Said & Done
A2) Power Move
B1) Quazar
B2) Rockem Sockem

Written & Produced: Andres Ordonez
Mastering: Jose Rico
Catalog No: ethos004

Release date: 18 September 2026

Limited to just 350 copies, with each release hand-stamped and individually numbered.

I’ve had this one on heavy rotation on since it landed and I’m loving all four tracks. Proper deep business from start to finish, with that raw, understated feel that keeps pulling you back to the turntable for another spin.

All releases from the label are strictly vinyl only.
