Wrapping up the road season, Sarah, Krista, Ruth and Susie raced the Oatmeal Classic / Texas State Championship Road Race! Sarah came home with second overall and cat 1 runner-up, Susie took the cat 2 jersey, and Ruth was runner-up among cat 3s!

Sarah took the field in a commanding attack 10 miles in, establishing the race-winning breakaway early on that accumulated eight minutes on the field. Her sprint for second was an incredible result against some of the fastest riders in the state (&country!). Krista, Ruth, and Susie all covered moves in the field and finished first and second in the field sprint. We are so proud of the team and Sarah’s second place showing at States! Thanks to @drivewayseries and @campoflamps for putting on a great event.

What a weekend out at @jacobs_well_classic omnium! It was a hot one out there and we have major respect for everyone who showed up and toed the line and for all of the event staff and USAC officials who made it happen!

Day 1 kicked off with a 56 mile road race starting at 11 AM in > 100 degree heat index. We kept it together for the first ~25 miles to help some of it pass quickly and we rotated through as a field. We had planned to start throwing attacks in sometime in the second half of the race and @susie.mar came up to me around 26 miles in and asked “should we start attacking?” to which I said “sure” and she was off like a rocket. No one could react and she was holding a ~45 second gap when Ruth and I separated ourselves from the rest of the field with one other rider and tried to bridge to her so that she wouldn’t have to be out there solo for an hour and a half in that heat. Well, turns out she didn’t need our help and she finished the race solo ahead of second place (me) with ~3 minutes of a gap. Unfortunately Ruth was dealing with heat exhaustion (nausea, chills, temp of almost 104) with 16 miles to go and she said she was done so I assumed she was stopping in the feed zone and calling it a day for safety purposes and I kept riding with the other racer. I couldn’t shake her so I ended up sprinting for second and shortly after Ruth crossed for fourth (she said she rode zone 2 into the finish 😂 which is definitely not my zone 2-so strong even through heat exhaustion).

Day 2 brought the time trial up “the man maker” which is a half a mile climb up a 10 percent gradient and was followed by a 1.6 mile headwind false flat after. Susie powered through to a commanding first place finish with Ruth in second, me in third, and @krista_inmotion in 5th 🎉

We swept the podium as a team and had fun suffering together. Our omnium prizes were some of our favorite products from @foothillproducts which made it extra special!

Spectra podium🥈at the Blue Sky Hill Climb! 27 miles and over 6,700 ft of climbing to the summit at 14,130 ft! 🏔️🐐

Krista has been acclimating to the Colorado altitude and is excited to be back in Texas soon for Jacob’s Well and Oatmeal Classic State Championship! She also jumped into the Aspen race scene this month, earning 4th place at the Maroon Bells–King Hill–Ashcroft Road Race 🙌

Another @drivewayseries and another Spectra podium! @susie.mar attacked on the first lap, setting @teenygils up for a counter attack on the second lap. She stayed away solo for 25 minutes and lapped the field! Someone drop us a comment with when the last time was that someone lapped the field solo at DW bc we don’t remember it ever happening since we’ve been around :)

Susie and Sarah snagged all of the primes including the coveted @themeteorcafe #beanprime and Susie came centimeters away from a second place (congrats @selva_francesca_ on a great field sprint!) after covering all of the attempted bridges during the race.
Now on to the summer series 🎉

While Ruth was on her way to a national championship, @teenygils and @susie.mar went to @tourofamericasdairyland and had a blast racing at the national level. Susie did the 2/3 omnium and came away with 10th overall despite being caught up in a crash and not getting scored for one of the four days. Then she did her first P/1/2 races ever (Downer ave and Wawatosa) finishing top half of the pack at Tosa when over half of the field got pulled. Sarah snagged two 11th places during the P/1/2 omnium as a guest rider for @606racingchicago while helping the team to secure that cat 2 green jersey. TOAD always puts on a fantastic race series!

Say hello to your master’s national TT champ (40-44) our very own Ruth 🤖!

We had no doubt she could come home with the championship jersey and she smashed it, winning by over a minute! She’s not on the gram so find her on Strava and send some kudos!

@susie.mar first time racing Tulsa Tough! She raced the Cat 2/3 field Saturday and Sunday, and was very nervous but even more stoked to toe the line for her first city crit with a stacked field.

It was storming heavily on Saturday morning, and with multiple race cancellations and schedule change, Susie was just so grateful to race some. The race itself was super wet with multiple crashes, but Susie managed to secure P2 in the field sprint!

Sunday was the infamous cry baby hill! It started raining as they were called up to staging. The race was speedy but stayed together, and as she set herself up in P2 going into the final corner, her rear wheel slipped out and she took a spill. Happy to report, that she was okay and her bike was okay.

It was a great weekend of racing 🤟🏻
