Happy spaces embody moments of peace, when feelings of anxiety simply melt away. Happy spaces are scenes that inspire unexpected delight, where you are captured by a singular sense of wonder. Happy spaces exist where trans-dimensional portals make the most improbable excursions and connections possible. Happy spaces encourage you to wake early and keep you smiling throughout the day. Happy spaces are your guaranteed comfort, escape from routine, and gateway to the unknown. Happy spaces make me happy and I hope they make you happy too. Happy Spaces opens January 14 at @laluzdejesus Gallery #laluzdejesusgallery #laluzdejesus #googie #🖖#✨#🌴#midcenturymodern #vibrantart #colorfulart taken in La Luz De Jesus Gallery by @speczacular

This year’s Art Therapy Festival print is designed by @speczacular. There will be (100) limited edition prints that are numbered & signed by Zach. Purchase a frame and receive the festival print for free. IKEA team will be assembling them so you can put them on your wall the moment you get home! Zachary Benson Friedberg aka Speczacular is a self-taught artist creating vibrant artwork exploring themes related to escapism and the unknown which he exhibits internationally. Currently his artwork reimagines iconic mid century modern architecture on other worlds, among alien explorers, in alternate dimensions, and in a future where the promise of everyday travel to the stars is realized. Zachary’s paintings are most notable for their attention grabbing use of highly opaque fluorescent paints which help capture the happy feelings of the Southern California lifestyle and aesthetic. @casalulo will be on-site this year executing all the live screen printing. We are honored to have Johana back with us. She is a special part of this day. Prints are first come, first serve. We sell out early each year. Come meet Zach, become a collector, and watch him paint a mural live. We can’t wait to hangout with you soon! #Arttherapy #artistsafespaces #speczacular #artprint #ikea taken in IKEA by @speczacular

What do you think people get wrong about you? That’s the question we’re building the whole festival around this year. Artist Safespaces presents our 3rd Annual Art Therapy. May 30th 10-3pm @IKEA Costa Mesa. Free event. We’re all on the same maze. Some of us know each other better than we know ourselves. Come spend the day with artists, muralists, poets, and a community wall that fills in with what people are too afraid to say out loud anywhere else. New this year: Free professional artist headshots. Every working artist who shows up gets a headshot, a studio shot, and a profile on artistsafespaces.org. First come, first served. 1-3 PM. Shot by @theinspiredcapture Open Studio Hours. Bring your own art to our first outdoor Artist Safespace. Come hangout and make art with us all day. The community mural is back, evolved. Led by @mrchavarriart. Learn how to wheat paste if you’ve never done it. If you already know how, this is your space to answer the question and put it on the wall anonymously. Poetry hour gets a proper opening. @marcusomariprp hosts an Artist Mixer to kick things off. Come up, grab a drink, meet the artists, talk about what brought you here. Then we move into spoken word poetry and a panel chat. DJs bookend the whole thing. 11 AM to 1 PM upstairs. Three live muralists painting all day. @speczacular, @rebekahrrose, @_siincero_. Each mural given away at the end. Must be in attendance to enter to win. 100 limited edition screen prints designed by @speczacular. Buy a frame at IKEA and get a free print. IKEA team will assemble it on-site for you. No stress, we got you. Swipe through to meet the artists. Last slide for the run of show. RSVP link in bio. Tag an artist who needs this day (or needs a headshot 😏) Presented by #artistsafespaces x @ikea Costa Mesa Featured partner @artsupplywarehouse Creative Director @viettriet #arttherapy #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #livemural #livepainting taken in IKEA by @speczacular

Final weekend to see my solo exhibit Yesterday’s Tomorrow at @laluzdejesus Gallery. This is Norms in La Cienega. Designed by Armet & Davis and built in 1957. It still stands today as one of the best examples of a classic google diner. #norms #normsdiner #googie #googiearchitecture #midcenturymodernarchitecture taken in NORMS Restaurants by @speczacular
