What’s the best way to tell the story of the Moniker Mexico Artist Residency? Through the voices of the artists who experienced it. 🇲🇽🎨✨In this video, one of our four finalists, Speker, reflects on his time in Tulum and the incredible people and surroundings that made the residency so special. 🌍❤️ Our very first residency received almost 300 applications from artists around the world, all hoping to be part of this one-of-a-kind experience. Dan got involved with the locals through our amazing charity partner @ladle.mx - a community centre and non-profit charity located in Tulum, focused on empowering native Mayan and local Mexican children - and also began work on his main mural. In addition to work, there was - of course - more play! 'Placenta'Mural created for @beyondwallslynn and their CTTS program.Lynn, Massachussets🇺🇸This mural is part of a two-piece series exploring the idea of “comfort zone.”The project began through workshops with students and teachers of the Lynn district, where we discussed what feels most present in their lives today. The themes discussed all revolved around “comfort zone” and the role it plays in our lives. A place we all know well, but one that feels especially powerful during a time of growth and transition.In this mural, a solitary figure floats in a bathtub, surrounded by soft textures and familiar objects. It’s a scene of safety and introspection, but also of suspension, comfort that soothes, yet holds her in place.The scattered oranges act as quiet sources of energy and vitality that are present but untouched.
