I definitely hit the lottery with the random Morehouse brother pairing. Almost 29 years later, and we’re still here. Today was bittersweet. Funerals are never welcomed, but the reconnection with framily is always a joy. Rest Well Gerald Wilson. Well done. 🙏🏾🕊️

Last weekend, I helped my mom move her albums to a new location. Of course I had to go through them one by one! Those that follow my stories know June is a big music month for me. I thought this was a fitting way to end it. If you know me, you also know the music isn’t gonna stop. I came by it honestly… I didn’t even get into the 45s. She has more of those than albums! I am forever grateful to my mom for sharing her love of music with me. (Aunts too). 👁️💜🎶

I woke up the morning after the Roots Picnic and saw the footage and knew I couldn’t miss the NYC concert. My first Jay-Z concert was the summer of 1996, and I’ve been a fan since day 1. Was it a wise choice, absolutely not, but we’re doing it for the plot this summer! (Also, ran into two of my FAVS!)

Since I was in town, I figured I should catch a Broadway show as well. Two formats of Black art and EXCELLENCE! It was a wonderful weekend in NYC! So glad I went. taken in New York City by @speldva
