✨ Leadership journeys are not always easy.

At SphinxConnect 2025, our “From Manager to Director” session explored the real challenges leaders of color face when stepping into new roles and how to navigate, advocate, and thrive.

Moderated by Daniel Acosta, with panelists Zenetta S. Drew, Dr. Zuly Inirio, and Anwar Nasir, this conversation sparked real talk about growth and resilience.

🌟 Start planning to join us next year at SphinxConnect 2026, from January 22 to January 24.

You make me happy 🥂 by @spellanwar

We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Anwar Nasir as our new President and CEO, effective late summer/early fall of 2026. With a distinguished career in arts leadership, organizational management, and community engagement, Nasir will lead the Festival into its next era as it approaches its centennial season in 2035.

Nasir joins us from the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) in New Orleans, where he served as Executive Director since 2021. Under his leadership, the LPO expanded audiences to near decade highs, created innovative collaborations with leading Louisiana artists, and celebrated its first GRAMMY Award.

In his new role, Nasir will build on the Festival’s longstanding commitment to artistic innovation, accessibility, and civic engagement. He will assume leadership at a pivotal moment as the Festival expands its audience development, community engagement, and long-term sustainability efforts. Nasir will work closely with staff, board, artistic leadership including Giancarlo Guerrero and Christopher Bell, musicians, donors, and community partners to ensure that the Festival continues to shine as a unique urban classical festival of the highest caliber.

New month, new blessings. Grateful in advance! by @spellanwar

Tonight's the night. FLOW at Anna's (Upstairs) 2601 Royal St. 6-11p. It'll be a kickoff for the culture. #flownola #juneteenth❤️🖤💚 by @spellanwar

We’re starting in the evening on purpose.
Because we wanted a space where you don’t have to split who you are during the day from who you are at night. Where the dreamer, the artist, the professional — all of you — can show up, unwind, and connect.

A place for laughter that lingers, flirtation that’s easy, and conversations that flow with the music — not in spite of it.
Anna’s is a come-as-you-are kind of venue — warm, unpretentious, grounded.

We’ll be filling that golden space between day and night — when the light softens, the mood shifts, and anything feels possible.
